Both Armoured Gun Batteries and Redundant Shielding come from Starmada X. I was asked to put them back in the shipyard by another player.
When ships with Armoured Gun Batteries take a weapon hit roll another d6 on 5 or 6 the hit has no effect.
Likewise with Redundant shielding when a shield hit is taken, roll another d6 on 5 or 6 the hit has no effect.

What program and tool did you use to make this? The effect looks similiar to something I can do in Paintshop.

Coral paint shop pro XI
Drew it and then applied Inner Bevel to the sections.

You could take the simple one from the shipyard.

From something I was working on (add your own ship in the middle).

Or you could use the Critical Damage rules in section E.7 (Page 19 in the Iron Stars supplement book)

Which should be the same as that in the Rules Annex wink

Or, dare I suggest, you could give the Systems Damage on page 27 of the Shipyard guide a go.

Dan has said in another thread that there will be another Trek book, maybe a couple. I think the aim is to have Three or Four months between new books.

With regards VBAM, any Starmada ship entered in the shipyard has the VBAM stats given for the first edition.

Keep an eye on the VBAM forum, there is a Trek/VBAM book in the works but that may be a little while yet. Meanwhile the first edition campaign guide could be used for any setting.

Critical Damage is covered in the Rules Annex page 24, allowing damage to equipment (anything in the "Specials" box).

Klingon Armada is an ADB product and they do not do downloadable products.

However it has been out for a while and you can find it where ADB products are stocked.

Any idea when it will reach UK stores?

I usually get MJ12 products by download I'm not used to waiting for a hardcopy product

I think it was Three or Four weeks after release that Klingon Armada arrived in UK shops, I had the feeling that ADB were selling as many as they could first, then outlets got theirs.

Keep an eye on Gameslore.com and IGUK.CO.UK, they both sold Klingon Armada.

I did not know that there was a 2D computer game based on Starmada AE being made.

This also brings up an issue I've been having with flotilla space pricing; if a special ability (say, Stealth) takes up 10% of a ship's hull, and each ship in a flotilla has 40 SU, does putting Stealth on a flotilla ship take up 4 SU per ship?  I ask because the Shipyard treats flotilla ships as Hull 1 for this purpose, so 10% is 10 SU.

Not a loophole, My mistake, Template sheet cell AR98.
Change to:
=IF($N$6="Yes";40;ROUNDUP((($AM$5^1.3)*100)*IF($G$6="Yes";1.2;1);0))

I have fixed this in v2E19, will upload.
Cor, the number of times I ask for any errors found....................and I have to keep an eye on all of the threads sad

The turns posted by MadSeason are very useful to anyone who has not used vassel for pbm.

More so than a battle report, as it is easier to learn if you can see an actual turn unfold step by step.

Ok, I am a fan of visual teaching/learning, a picture paints a thousand words and all that.

We came in closer... but not close enough for those pesky little shooters... The Terrans missed. The Arcturans landed a crippling blow! Well, except there was very little hull damage and no weapon damage.  :x

Is anyone enjoying watching this on Vassal? Shall I continue posting my turn files?

I am watching, pity it is one sided though. Like a tv series missing every other episode.

Not to mention there might be a hyper-space field that allows a larger ship to "pull" smaller ships through hyperspace with it. Could make it costlier than regular hyperspace and allow attack boat-type craft to begin play adjacent to the carrier. They could also then only warp out if adjacent to a departing ship.

Just a thought. It's long lost but I know I read some novel at some point in which this was the way small non-warp capable ships traveled.

Indeed there might, page 34 of VBAM The Starmada Edition. Extra Dimensional Travel (EDT) Drive in the Wars of the Boltian and Kuissian Universe.
Allows ships to piggyback with a vessel having an EDT Drive or use an EDT station which creates a field to transfer ships to another system.

This inspires an obvious product idea: a book (or e-book) of hundreds of ships (and custom fighters) in Drake notation. It would be nearly trivial for Dan to put together.

1. Have players submit their favorite ships (probably as shipbuilder .xls files for easy verification).
2. Let players vote on which ones they like. Either select the top N ships, or any that get at least K votes. (An automated voting system would probably be worth the effort).
3. ...
4. Profit!

If players have already seen the ships to vote on them why would they buy the book?

mundungus wrote:

What the world also needs is a shipbuilding program that could READ Drake notation. (If it could print out prettier ship record sheets, even better -- I've had a player pull out old Star Fleet Battles books and say, "Now THIS is a ship record sheet!")

Alas, I don't have the time to write such a program, so I'll take the coward's way out and sit on the sidelines proclaiming that Someone ought to do it. :-)

A couple of things wrong with this.
First, the Drake notation format would have to be changed so that every item of information would be imported into a known cell. I believe that means that all possible choices would have to be in the notation even if they are not on the ship and still have to be represented by a space and comma (or chosen character, space would not work for this). Every drake notation would need to have exactly the same formatting.

Second, The input sheet would then have to be linked to each known notation cell. Unless there is a way to keep a cell linked to the contents of another and allow it to be changed, a fresh input sheet would be needed for each new Drake notation or if you make a mistake.

I also think that the different spreadsheets may have different ways of importing text files.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
It would seem to be a lot of work for little gain.

How about a vote on record sheets, Pretty or functional?

That's right, Two flights of 4 Starmada standard fighters cost 72SU, A single flight of 8 fighters cost 65SU.
That is down to the calculation in the core rules. Look at it this way, two flights have more advantages than a single large flight.

Paul

397

(5 replies, posted in Starmada)

The shipyard does it in a slightly different way, with basing given as the number of fighter flights carried.
The fighter "size" is worked out on an individual fighter in the flight.
Base figures in SU are:-
1-3 Ultra Light
4-6 Light
7-10 Standard
11-14 Medium
15-18 Heavy
19 > Super Heavy
Larger than 22 does not change the "Size" but it does the cost etc.
Dual Mode fighters move up one class.
You may wish to look at the shipyard guide for conversion ideas.
Hope that helps a bit.
Paul

They should all open with OpenOffice.
Certainly the alternatives do, the shipyard was re-written using it.
On the plus side, the alternatives are up to date with the options.

I think we would just call it a Fighter-Bomber as per normal, such as the Bristol FB2 right up to the hurribomber of WWII ...and beyond (as they say).
