It says in KA that "Each 'drone rack' noted on the datas is considered carrier space with a capacity of 12)...Thus, for example, 'Drone Racks(2)' is equivalent to 'Carrier (24)'"

My question is: how much capacity does each "Drone Flight" consume?

I see in 5.1 that:

"Each fighter flight requires a capacity of 50. Therefore, if a fleet includes carriers with a total capacity of 500, it could field up to ten flights".

The tough part I would think is the ESGs are energy-based weapons. So the more energy you put in the more powerful it is. Well, Starmada does not have a concept of energy.  Yes, could have another weapon that fire 360 degrees and give people the option to either fire the ESG as a weapon or use it as protection. I see it as a Phaser-3 that does around 2-3 times the amount of damage.

Uh, dude. You are wrong a Drone Flight has an Attack of 4+ already. As defined by the Klingon Armada Rules from e23.sjgames.com .

Drone Flight: Size 4; Speed 8; Attack 4+; Defense 0

I am writing a program to play the Star Fleet Universe Armada games (Klingon/Romulan/Distant Armada) over the Internet. I currently have a service that allows people to play both SFB and Federation Commander and I will want to add Star Fleet Armada support.

What is the conical Drake Notation? Is it the notation defined at the top of this topic or is it the output of the Ship Builder?

Because I am creating a program that will be reading these definitions and there seem to be some differences that might cause issues. Like the ship builder output seems to define both the starting and ending range for a bracket. The ship builder also seems to output the tech level for the weapon. And the ship builder output seems to not output the Tech Level line that the above notation defines.

Jeff,
How much SFB have you played? The explosion rules are meant to discourage the stacking of ships. But it doesn't really. The only rule that is effective is Fed Com's rule that limits the number of ships that can fire out of the hex. (i.e. there is a maximum of 3 ships that can fire at the target(s) in the same hex) The problem with the SFB explosion rules is that the explosion value will not penetrate a fresh shield. The only thing that the explosion rules do is to make sure that fighters avoid the smaller ships in the fleet so as to not make the smaller ships a target and have the squadron of fighters disappear in the explosion of the small ship.

When it comes to repair,  I don't think it should be added due to this. Fed Com already has this and it extends the games way too long. In addition to this, in SFB is the WE loses it's Plasma-R for the most part it is out of the game. I think it take 2 turns to repair it and another 3 turns until the Plasma-R is ready until the point the War Eagle is basically out of the fight because it is just a target.

When it comes the issue with "Active"/"Active", I think that it is a little late to discuss that. Though, I do agree with you on that regard.

My only concern about the fighters is if they are allowed to have seeking weapons themselves and therefore making them over powering which is the case with SFB.

When it comes to (B) I am not sure if ADB has decided on this. I actually hope that no other fighters get added. Because it would require adding so many other systems to counteract the fighters it would not be worth it.

It feels like the ADB is trying to keep the Armada series as clean as possible. (i.e. like Federation Commander)

When it comes to (C), are you looking for conversions of SFB/Fed Com scenarios or brand new scenarios?

One other thing that I currently don't see an anwer for:

For multiple weapons in the same battery do you specify more than one line starting with [X], [Y] or [Z]?

How are faceted shields represented in Drake Notation?

Will the correction to the Hellbore/ESG interaction rule be corrected before it is available on e23?

Where is the best place to post question about and issues with Klingon/Romulan/Alien/Distant Armada? I ask because I posted over in the Federation Commander Forum on Friday but there has been no answer yet. I know it is possible the mj12games is busy due to Origins. If that is the case, I will be patient. If it is better to post here, I will be happy to copy the posts over here.

SFU stands for Star Fleet Universe.

I don't see it in the "Starmada: Admiralty Edition" rulebook. I see the construction rules. I found some examples on the board. To me, it seems to be just a text dump of the ship card. Though, I can not find anything that truly defines the format.

But anyway, it looks like a lot text processing for the client to get it into internal data structures so that the damage allocator would work.

So other than that feature/functionality is there anything that you see that I am missing from my initial proposal that is critical and wold make it unusable if it was not there?

Where is "drake notation" defined? I didn't see it mentioned in the Klingon Armada Rules.

Gentle beings (ok not so gentle beings),

I am the owner of SFB Online and Fed Com Online. I was thinking about adding an SFU Armada room type into the client. It looks like a very cool system and I would love to add it. Before I add it I wanted to make I didn't miss anything large. The functionality that I would start with is:

1) Ship Definition Tool. So that the ships could be added to the library and make it so that people do not have to type them in themselves. (Note: I already have permission from ADB for this)

2) Define movement orders and execute them after everybody has defined theirs.

3) Damage Allocation to automate the process.

4) Support for fighters flights/drones.

Is there anything that I am missing?

Note: The target is not Starmada in general but more to the SFU Armada stuff.
