P55 of the compendium talks about Towing and is, to date the only "official" rendering of one ship carrying another that I am aware of (pre-compendium does not apply)
However, Dan's post on the costs of carrying another ship comes pretty close, I'd say.
This way you get your dropships and PT boats both.
um,
Monkeys are cool...
You are correct, Dan. Cheaper means "costs less"
I get confused sometimes.
sorry
ah, maybe some excel guru can look into that
From the Max Burn Page
By Cheaper, I mean smaller
"""
A PDS is as effective (and has as much effect on DR) as 3 shields, although it can't take as many hits. As seen in the graph at right, it also takes less space, on ships up to size 19! For ships of size 4 or less, a PDS takes less space than even one shield -- a definite win.
"""
a little confused, but...
jim
you get better coverage and cheaper defense with shield 2 and pds, that's what I meant.
Nope, that's the thing.
Usually, there's not a ton of Qs on a ship, and the vulnerability of going from 3 shield to 0 shield in one hit is a biggie.
And point for point, they are cheaper than a 3 point shield.
Here's something Peter Drake put together to show that ratio:

*Gasp* a fan???? or warmaster???? I'm crushed!
Did you try the specialty games website? (he asked knowing you probably did already, but I had to add some value to th conversation)
I read somewhere that it was bad management that caused the downfall of BoFA. They also scrapped the line cause it wasn't making money.
I'd rather use For the Masses anyway.
I might need more heroscape terrain though!
That's exactly what expendable weapons are used for.
You add just the shots you have ammo for. then when you've shot the weapon, you strike off a box as if it were hit.
how's that different from a weapon with only a few shots?
Yup
Collinsville Illinois,
I'll be there saturdy morning through sunday afternoon. Provided there's a hotel room, that is.
I will be running a bunch of demo games of Aces at Dawn at Die Con this weekend.
Look for the guy with snoopy vs the red baron coming out of the boom box and the cool planes!
well, now that you've FIXED them they point the same direction.
Or maybe I just have to uncross my eyes.
shouldn't the front point the same direction?
otherwise which is right?[/b]
okay, I'll fix it when I get a chance...
sorry
No, mike, he means lateral, as in lateral thinking, moving to the side a lot rather than taking things one step at a time.
What book is that from? The description with matchsticks was cool, I thought.
The size of the counters is the size of he ship
Tiny ones are for tiny ships, gigantic ones are for gigantic ships.
Yes, any weapon can attack fighters.
Yeah,
I've been known to mislable ships for that reason, to confuse the enemy, not because I don't have a clue what the difference between a battleship and a cruiser is... yeah that's it!
(All I know about sea combat, I've learned from Milton Bradley's Historical Combat Simulation "Battleship"... as in "you sunk my...")
jim
Moose is, of course, being used as a verb in that phrase...
One-turn wonder.
There's no need to outlaw a combination if there is some way of countering it. That would be like outlawing Scissors because someone keeps playing Paper. If they keep playing Scissors, play Rock.
I think you'll both find that smaller, better designed ships will do you both better than a single ship.
I personally would rather put 5x100 point ships on the board than 1x600 point ship. You simply have too many targets to shoot at...
I think you're seeing the problems with the bigger ships in the design system. It's been created to push you toward the smaller hull sizes.
(IIRC)
I can't even imagine these ships. You're bandying about 21" torpedos and 14" main guns which I have no reference to in starmada.
Could you post your designs
thanks!
