Howdy - I noticed in some scenarios of Tsar & Emperor certain divisions have squadrons - how far a part (in hexes) may these divisional squadrons operate from each or does it not matter? Rule of thumb?

Thanks!

These are high quality colour stickers on a wood backing.  Reasonable price and very little work required to commission the fleet!

Looks like they have Jutland on the horizon (hopefully to coincide with a GF3 supplement!).

Their upcoming projects includes the complete OOB for Jutland  tongue

Topside's minis scale = 1/1850

Many thanks!

Looking forward to people's feedback.

I tried to upload the vsav for the Ulsan scenario - but that file type wasn't allowed.

I'm working on the next scenario in the IRN vs Ottoman Navy.

There is some automation in the mod.  Off the top of my noggin' -

- after combat - flash and illum markers are removed
- smoke counters have a selection to roll a die
- there's also a marked as fired selection on the ship counters as well

Aloha - I created a vassal mod. for GF 3

The vassal mod itself is nothing spectacular- I used whatever topside ship art I could find that matched a particular ship's class.

I included the ships for the first scenario - Ulsan - Russo Japanese War (IJN vs IRN) as a way to test and get the feel of the rules.

Let me know what you think and/or if you have better topside art.

Aloha - are Damage Checks performed each time a ship takes damage or when the hull boxes for the damage category are completely filled?

Immediately after a ship has been damaged, and again after it has been crippled, the controlling player must make a series of damage checks for the ship:

I think what Carbs is asking is whether the pdf version will be editable or only printable.

Sorry for the confusion - thanks for clearing that up Brass!

The input is similar to GF2, but the stats and ship sheets are quite different. So new formulas and new design sheets are required.

Excellent - I really like/enjoy this part of the game  big_smile

Now if I could play this w/ VASSAL...

What are changes in GF 3 that impact ship creation?

No need for detail - unless you want to go there  big_smile

Sorry to necro an old thread - but I wanted to give thanks for making the ship tool spreadsheet available  big_smile

I've created 2 IJN BB (Fuso and Yamashiro) and 2-3 classes of  IJN DD (Tanikaze, Isokaze, and Momo) - if anyone wants to review or to have - just give me a heads-up.

Aloha -
If a ship's penetration value is higher than the target's armor, does penetration happen on anything greater than rolling a one (1) on a die roll?

Are any minuses applied if penetration value  is higher than armored value?

For example, the HMS Iron Duke has a armor penetration of 7 at medium range w/ her 13.5" guns.  It hits an unarmored ship (AC=6) at medium - does the Duke get a -1 to its penetration roll?

Thanks!

Aloha - just wanted to clarify - a torpedo rolls to see if it hits but doesn't roll for penetration?

So you are only rolling the damage dice to see where damage is (guns) and if there 10s or 1s?

Mahalo!

Aloha - excellent news - I know how wish lists go - my wish list has a wish list.

I really enjoy reading the rules and I think it's a great fit for our GWAS operational scenarios.  Hell I've already created a handful of ships based on RL info.

I've looked at quite a few tactical variants - from GWAS advanced tactical to GWAS: Dreadnoughts to SKV.

GWAS and its add-on rules (dreadnoughts) didn't get the job done and SKV - well counting rivets doesn't lend for an expedited play.

I'm going to get together with a friend and kick the tires on this ruleset this week or next.

Many thanks for the feedback!

Aloha -
Has anyone housed ruled that a ship that previous ranged and received a successful hit against a target gets a +1 on the following turn 'to hit roll' against the same target?

Just wondering if anyone has tried this and what were the results- a good rule addition or not.

Thanks!
