Duel 2 : HMS Indefatigable was victorious! A combination of winning the initiative each time and stellar marksmanship (except for missing with a torpedo at 3k yds) had the SMS Von Der Tann down to 3 hull boxes in addition to an engine and bridge critical...and then a magazine critical, BOOM!
Been crunching numbers... on the firepower calculation, was "1" your value for "F" ?
Got HMS Lion, HMS Indefatigable, SMS Lutzow and SMS Von Der Tann...just the HMS Princess Royal, HMS Queen Mary, HMS Tiger, HMS New Zealand, SMS Derfflinger, SMS Seydlitz and SMS Moltke to go ! Not too bad at the rate of 1-2 ships every other payday (or longer)
I played a duel between the HMS Indefatigable and the SMS Von Der Tann (the one from Kings and Kaisers).
It went well at first for the British, as both ships circled each other at long range, but once the Von Der Tann's longer-range secondaries were able to engage, it went downhill very rapidly.
HMS Indefatigable was sunk. SMS Von Der Tann lost 11 hull boxes, 3 speed boxes, 1 main battery box and 2 Light Guns boxes.
The alternate damage check rules are alot of fun and greatly increase the tension. Only 1 critical was scored during the battle, a bridge hit on HMS Indefatigable.
Very enjoyable game, will be playing again soon!

thanks! it's been awhile since I had to do that much math. I used the stats listed on wikipedia for all of my calculations, so I am sure that there are some variances.
I actually made an error in the speed, it should be 5/4-/3+/2/1+, luckily that doesn't skew the ORAT calculations!

If I was going to field much larger fleets I might go 1/6000, or topside, or even homemade counters, but half a dozen ships on a side is about the most I can handle...maybe when I retire and have more time to do important stuff like play wargames!
I ordered HMS Lion and SMS Lutzow from Panzerschiffe to see if 1:2400 scale was going to work for me. Shipping was super fast, and the actual models look awesome! Plenty big for my old eyes, lol! I will definitely be getting the rest of the battlecruisers to refight the initial action at The Battle of Jutland. Oh, they are right at 3 1/2 inches long, I can post a picture if anyone wants to see.
Do FIRE and FLOOD markers stack? It says to ignore if there is already a FIRE and/or FLOOD marker, but it implies there could be more than one marker in effect.
I am all over Tsar and Emperor as soon as its available for GF3. I want a Jutland book too!

Hello, are there are ship cards I can download for the demo rules? I will probably buy the full rules, but I would like a few ships to play with in the meantime.
