Do I need to render up some counters? Wouldn't be that hard, I've got some mecha modeled already....

Yes.  Yes, you do.  smile

Howdy All,

Unfortunately, I don't have a very good collection of minis for use with Wardogs.  I do have a nice selection of BT maps; I'd like a nice set (print on demand) of counters to use with 'em.

Any suggestions?

Thus far, I'm very pleased with the book.  I grabbed thhe pdf a few days after it went live.  smile

One thing that I would have liked to have seen would be print-on-demand counters, as was done with the VBAM Starmada guide.

Outside of that, two thumbs up.

I like this idea.  smile  I do think the counter sheets (sized for the new disks in the MJ catalog) are necessary if you're going to have ship minis.  I like my mini / counter to match the ship illo, and I'll cop to getting more confused when using proxies in Starmada.

Howdy All!

Had a chance to mix it up the other day in a weekend Starmada battle.  Lots of fun (as expected).

Quick question came up on the special equipment - drones.

Are the drone racks able to fire each turn (up to their max or 10, as shown in the rules)?  Or, are they like fighters, in that once the maximum are launched, you're out?

I suspect - and played - the former ... that is, the drone-equipped ship can keep firing drones each End Phase (unless / until they start to loose drone racks to incoming fire).

Thanks!

I don't see any solitaire play rules in my (newly printed) copy of Starmada X: Brigade.  sad

Perhaps they were dropped from the rules?

For solo play, perhaps scenarios which involved fixed / responsive enemies (seeking weapons) or randomized movement results of some sort would overcome the "plot both sides" hurdle.

Regarding TMW?  Just curious what folks think.

Well, I got it the other weekend, and finally had a chance to read it thoroughly a few times today.  I had access to a industrial copier, so shortly thereafter had it sprial bound for a pittance and read it over coffee (along with IS, I should add).

Very nice.  I enjoyed it cover to cover.  The Wells fiction was a nice touch, but probably the weakest part for me.  The rest was very enjoyable, and I look forward to playing it.

I'd like to see what's covered in the next supplement - presumably the "events of 1914"?

The Variable table is rolled according to how many successes you have. Take the number of to-hit successes, multiply them by the PEN rating. Roll the result against the Variable table. Then roll the final result against the enemy's shields.

This is all AFAIK, of course.

Best of luck!

Cool - thanks for that.  I wasn't sure based on the examples (didn't seem explict), and it can certainly result in a lot of penetration dice.  wink

Howdy All!

New to Starmada (although got a first game in last week - two on two)  smile

I'm having some trouble getting the variable penetration weapon ability.

Specifically, do you roll a number of dice equal to the Pen value for each successful to hit die, or roll ta number of dice equal to Pen (once) regardless of the number of hits?

Short hand / example is it:

A Pen 2 weapon gets two (2) hits on an opponent.  Does it:

Roll two (2) dice (for being Pen 2) on the variable chart and roll the corresponding number of penetration dice in total.

Roll two (2) dice (for being Pen 2) on the variable chart for each of two successful hits - a total of four dice against the chart, and roll the totaled number of penetration dice.

Similarly, does variable damage work the same way?

I didn't see this addressed previously - my bad if in fact it's been raised before.

Thanks!
