If you wanted, you could leave the size factor as a non-integer value to pass along for defense and thrust factors.    I like the idea as it would encourage more...thoughtful designs at the upper level without the "let's add 100 science to the ship."

Such elements might have positive impact on campaign design.

I dunno about you, but with more than a little bit of tweaking, I suspect that you could get something that could complicate life... immensely for ships.

I exist in many realities.  Some of them Starmada, some Squadron Strike, some Krugman, all 100% awesome...though they'd all be better with more redheads.

I don't think anyone has asked about this year, but does anyone have thoughts for the cost and SUs for Gunboat linkages? 

I'm 50% tempted to use the fighter rules and note that each "flight" is really a single Gunboat/superheavy fighter.  the other 50%...put together the following table.

HC1 calculates the cost of the hyperdrive for the embarked ship
HC2 calculates the cost of the carrier system as if the space was a fighter.

Good morning,

Thanks to insomnia, I put together a spreadsheet for constructing modular ships.  You select modules that are broken down by SUs, the spreadsheet puts them together and spits out the stats you can go use in another ship design sheet to produce the unit details and combat rating.

Applications:
Modular Naval Auxiliaries
Heavy War Destroyer like designs from SFB
Mix and match Federation hull bits
Sword of the Stars conversions
Modular freighters, with and without pods

Is this something people would be interested in and if so, what additional things should I add to make it more functional?

Also, what are the "PX" and "SX" arcs?

The first question is: is there are more elegant way to do combine fire than the multi-stage way that I listed (I'm thinking not, short of adding another line to the ship chart showing the number of weapon emplacements).

as for the PX and SX arcs, those came from the OldNGrey's spreadsheet and are expanded FP and FS arcs.

I'm playing around with the Nova edition and converting ships from Sword of the Stars and end up with [FX4][PX7][SX7][TT5][PH5][SH5]           

and a track that looks like this: 11    8    6    4    3    2    1    1    1    0    0    0

a target just off axis to the front will be attacked by the FX4, PX7, TT5, SX7 and PH5.

PX7+SX7=Q5
Q5+TT5+PH5=W2 (based off the splitting fire rule).
W2+FX4=E1 (based off splitting fire rule).

Combined: 8 dice
Separate: 9 dice (though that goes to zero at any sort of range)

Is there a more elegant way to do this?

I have to say that I'm enjoying the look that you have for the ships, it does a good job of evoking the old days of B5Wars.

I'm trying to convert the Hydran Monarch and in reverse engineering the other Hydran ships I see that they don't fit unless most tech is a TL +1, are there conversion notes that I'm over looking?
