Re: Starmada:Admiralty Shipbuilder

Earlier, The idea of Armored btteries was looked at.  Could this also be added to the Starmada Shipdesigner Program at the same time as Ablative-armor-type SFB Shields.  I will add them to my ships and elavuate them.   :ugeek:

Dan, when will SAE 2.0 be able to be downloaded as a PDF from your site, Rpg now, and available as a hard copy?
I am planning on getting new copies at that point.

I'm not sure that it will... as I said, the only change at the moment is the addition of that one paragraph. Hardly worth making the change to a new "Revision".

I'll probably wait until if/when there are more changes.

What is the latest revision of SAE available?  I have 0/0 origiginal version

I'm really confused ... I thought that's what we were talking about.

SAE Rulebook is at revision 1.

You're confused? I'm confused. I wanted to know about changes to the SAE Shipbuilder on the MJ12 website...not revisions to the rulebook. Epic thread derailment big_smile.
The current version (2.2) on the website has errors on calculations (discussed above) and doesn't support the newer rulesets (Dreadnoughts, Iron Stars). I want to design some ships but there is no spreadsheet out there that can duplicate the units from Dreadnoughts, Hammer & Claw, Iron stars, IS Sourcebook, etc. HELP!

And there I was thinking that I had the "shipyard" up to date.
I did include ALL of the options including Flotillas, dual mode weapons, dual mode fighters etc.
The official sheet has lagged behind a bit.

Well, your shipyard program is awesome but...it cannot duplicate the ships from Dreadnought either. When I use the newest version to enter, oh say the Derrflinger from Dreadnoughts, it comes up with a value of 400 (like my home made sheet as well big_smile). The Derrflinger in Dreadnoughts says 340. Thats one reason why I want an official MJ12 version...to see where I am getting it wrong.

Well, that one at least I can answer pretty quickly.

Page 19, Starmada: Dreadnoughts:

3)    All ship weapons have the (star)ship-exclusive trait, and are thus unable to attack fighter flights. (Due to its ubiquity, this fact is not noted on the ship data cards.)

This means all of the ship's weapons have a x0.7 multiplier -- which translates to roughly a 16% reduction in final Combat Ratings. 400 minus 16% = 335.

Re: Starmada:Admiralty Shipbuilder

sorry, didn't mean to de-rail and hijack, I will start a new thread and fix the stuff already posted so it doens't confuse this thread..my bad guys.

Re: Starmada:Admiralty Shipbuilder

Of course, the (Star)Ship-exclusive trait was included in the shipyard.

In either of two ways:-
1) Each separate weapon can be given this trait in the drop down trait choices.
2) Cell C29 on the Nation sheet. Choose Yes and all weapons become costed as (Star)Ship-exclusive.

<double post> sad

Re: Starmada:Admiralty Shipbuilder

Sweet. I missed that note in Dreadnoughts about all ship weaps being starship(ship) exclusive. Thanks a ton guys. As for the thread de-rail, no prob, I have come to expect it big_smile.

Re: Starmada:Admiralty Shipbuilder

I don't have Dreadnoughts, what does it have that can be used with starships?

Everything. smile

Seriously -- all of the rules from any of the sourcebooks have been designed so that can be cut-and-pasted individually or collectively into any other setting.
