I say make it official.

Well, if I were to make an official change to the formula, I would still want it something simple enough to do by hand. I am leaning towards RPD+R; although not perfect, it is more perfect (?) than (R+1)PD, and is still very simple.

Indeed.

And the Origins nomination seal on the cover. wink

I know this is something they tend to protect pretty closely.

This would be what is termed a "Grey Area".

Also, I should mention in case you missed it on TMP... through the end of March, the hard copy of Defiance is 20% off on our web store -- in case you have the PDF but really want to upgrade to the printed version... big_smile

Wait until the WW2 version is finished, will ya? smile

Bren...3D space wouldn't be that difficult an adaptation....or shouldn't be.  It's just a bit more math.  Might be able to do it with a simple underlay stat sheet. (thinking out loud)

Not sure why it would need any changes from the air version -- although the difference between climb and dive speeds would need to go away...

just wondering

thanks for a great product:-)

Well, the change in the cover to reflect the Origins nomination is worth it in itself, right? smile

Actually, the interior is updated -- but I'll have to defer to Demian to explain exactly how...

You are correct, sir! Gold star for you.

However, there's more to the turn rating than just a minimum move... if there is indeed interest in this one, I will try to get a playtest pack out ASAP.

Not at the moment, but given any set of stats, I can generate a player card.

Indeed. And the 1994 Washington Nationals were actually the Montreal Expos. I was just trying to find an example team for each extant franchise, regardless of what they were called back then.

Well, using an interesting approach published in the Baseball Prospectus (http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=169) I've determined the "best" teams in each franchise's history:

2001 Arizona Diamondbacks
1958 Atlanta Braves
1966 Baltimore Orioles
1986 Boston Red Sox
1984 Chicago Cubs
1916 Chicago White Sox
1975 Cincinnati Reds
1995 Cleveland Indians
1996 Colorado Rockies
1984 Detroit Tigers
1997 Florida Marlins
1983 Houston Astros
1989 Kansas City Royals
1986 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim
1955 Los Angeles Dodgers
1982 Milwaukee Brewers
1945 Minnesota Twins
1986 New York Mets
1941 New York Yankees
1990 Oakland Athletics
1915 Philadelphia Phillies
1902 Pittsburgh Pirates
1984 San Diego Padres
1959 San Francisco Giants
2001 Seattle Mariners
1968 St. Louis Cardinals
2000 Tampa Bay Devil Rays
1974 Texas Rangers
1993 Toronto Blue Jays
1994 Washington Nationals

Thoughts?

When I was playing around with some B5W => SX conversions, I just took the Medium Laser and Medium Pulse Cannon stats and averaged them out to find a middle ground.

The problem I have with using an average is that this would allow someone to come up with a dual-purpose weapon at a discount.

For example, let's say the two weapons standing alone are worth 50 and 20 respectively. Combine them in a dual-purpose weapon, and they are worth 35... if you only ever use the 50-point weapon "mode", you're getting a significant discount.

With the ARES system, the dual-purpose weapon will always cost more than either mode, but still give a discount over having both weapons separately.

This is the solution used in ARES, and it works nicely.
