Of course I'd be glad to help with ship design.  If the book has multiple contributors it would need a good developer/editor to make sure the various faction sections didn't contradict each other.  I was one of the designers for the Brigade book (CDSU) and it felt like I was flying in the dark since I didn't know if my vision would mesh with the other authors.  I think the faction section would have been a bit better if each nation was tied to a common background or timeline.

Interesting (the gears in my head are trying to process all the stats).  I guess your stat translates into the "range" of the player to determine if he gets to a ball hit his way?

If the rule set is a one shot deal (no expansions) then I might opt for spiral.  But if the ruleset will have expansions then no since there is a good chance I will consolidate the rules into one binder.

I've been experimenting with SFB ships for a while.  Here is my interpretion of some weapons:

Phaser 1: RNG 15, 3+, 1, 1, 1, Doubled Range Modifiers
Phaser 2: RNG 12, 3+, 1, 1, 1, Doubled Range Modifiers
Phaser 3: RNG 3, 3+, 1, 1, 1, Doubled Range Modifiers
Photon:  RNG 12, 4+, .5, 2, 1, Re-Rolls PEN
Disruptor (30) RNG 12, 3+, 1, 2, 2, No Range Modifiers.
Plasma F: RNG 6, 4+, .33, 2, 1, Range Based DMG
Plasma G: RNG 9, 4+, .33, 2, 2, Range Based DMG
Plasma S: RNG 12, 4+, .33, 2, 2, Rane Based DMG
Plasma R: RNG 15, 4+, .33, 2, 3, Range Based DMG

The other change I made was to use more that three weapons banks as necessary to accomodate all the weapons some ships have in SFB.  The Gorn DN for example has three different plasmas and two different phasers.

When I designed the CDSU i included fighter information but it was not included in the Brigade book.
