    I use a House Rule where the Special Sensors from VBAM/Starmada can be added to Searchlights. A Passive Sensor I (25 S.U. and *1.1 modification to DRAT) adds 1 Die to the dice pool rolled for a Target-Lock. An Active Sensor I (20 S.U. and *1.2 Modification to DRAT) adds +1 to every Targeting Dice Roll. An Active Sensor II (40 S.U. and 1.4 Modification to DRAT) adds +2 to every Targeting Dice Roll.

      An Active Sensor III (60 S.U. and 1.6 Modification to DRAT) adds +3 to every Targeting Dice Roll. Only one Passive and one Active Sensor may be added to any dice pool.

        This does make a ship large enough to carry many sensors capable of firing at more ships at longer ranges, but it does eat up a lot of Hull space. It also makes a ship with many sensors quite expensive.

                                                                                                                                                        I like the House Rule that Damage Control and Regeneration during a Tactical Turn and Construction, Repair, Replenishment of Ammunition, and travel outside one's Supply Chain consume Cargo. An entire fleet may be inconvenienced if it must do extensive mending and replacement. It could also be lost if it runs out of Cargo too far away from its' Supply Chain. From a Campaign point of view, weapons using Ammunition become an expensive liability for an Attacking force.

It seemed reasonable for me to model this by giving these ships two layers of Shields and rolling against each one. To my surprise, when I did the math for this, it turned out to be equivalent to the Expanded Shield Ratings rule. I provide the figures below to anyone who would find them a convenience.

If the target being fired upon has CounterMeasures as well as shields, then you would have 10 Impact and 3 Damage at range 5-6, 21 Impact and 7 Damage at Range 3-4, or 32 Impact and 10 Damage at Range 1-2.

I have been calculating the Space Units for the Kinetic Blaster as though it had the Trait: Carronade, but I have not been listing the Trait: Carronade in the Data Card for the ship. It seems easier to insert the Trait: Carronade into the Data Card, than it does to re-calculate all the ships. Besides, it does give the Refugee Fleet a slightly different flavor than their enemies.
