Sooo...it looks like I can't actually do what I need to do to release supplements. I can save work, but I can't send it to myself. And, with only one poxy hour to do stuff, I can't possibly enter the weapons, then the ships, then post it all into a document and then format it. So, unless I find some other way to do this, I'm screwed...

EDIT 2: Aaand, now, even if I could do all that, I find that I couldn't post it from the poxy library computers anyway. WHAT IS THE POINT OF TRYING!? The only way I think I could possibly do it is by somehow releasing it via Google Docs, but I can't see how I can do that unless someone sends me a copy of the Drydock and I save it that way--even if I could. Argghh...

I'd ultimately say that it's a personal choice. murtalianconfederacy's supplements might give you some inspiration.

That's the nicest thing anyone's said about me...:)

I tend to go with two general ranges, depending on the type of setting. Of course, sometimes I change that dramatically, but those are for particular settings that I sometimes come up with. One thing I was working on (without success) was an assault-ship setting where the main fleet were, surprise, surprise, assault ships that could carry battalions, brigades or divisions, but if you do that, the division-ship examples I drew up were minimum hull 28.

But, generally, the size ranges relies on the 'destroyer' as in WW1/2 fleets. Either they're hull 4, in which case cruisers range from 6-12 with battleships hull 12, 16 and 20 (hull-12 cruisers are the battlecruisers). Or they're hull 6, in which case lights are hull 9, heavy hull 12 and battleships start at hull 20.

Look at some of my 2015-17 SAE supplements (I think the Humanity Ascendant/Dominant) for smaller hull ranges. There heavy cruisers were hull 4 and battleships hull 8. And I got, I hope to say, some reasonable range of designs in there...

In some ways, it's good to be back. But one of the problems I had was that I felt like the tech was using me rather than I using the tech, and it was making me feel a bit down in the dumps. The last few months I've not been too down (threat of nuclear war notwithstanding...) and I intend, hopefully, to take it easier the next time I do eventually get internet access at home.

...which was one of the things I spotted early on and thus gave DEFSATs in my only SUE supplement (to date) Overthrusters (3), thus giving them an effective 360 degree arc. Of course, if you make the turn wrong you might have some troubles, but I never try to design the ultimate warship, I try to design interesting ones...:D

Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances (mainly having to wait to get a new computer--I lost internet access for a while and now the one I was using--well, there'd be a lot of updating to do so I'm going to save until I can get a new one), I am currently unable to log in with my normal account.

So I've created this temporary one (not wanting to use my normal one on public computers) for the purposes of letting you know that in a few weeks/months (not entirely sure how long) I should be back here with my normal account. I had something happen that caused me to try and do something about some of the problems I face, which I'm doing well at (if not recently owing to the heatwave), so that's one of the primary reasons I haven't been on here.

But, rest assured, I hope to be back in the saddle releasing supplements in SAE/SNE/SUE until you beg for the Quiet Times of 2018...:)
