Topic: Hey everyone...murtalianconfederacy here

Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances (mainly having to wait to get a new computer--I lost internet access for a while and now the one I was using--well, there'd be a lot of updating to do so I'm going to save until I can get a new one), I am currently unable to log in with my normal account.

So I've created this temporary one (not wanting to use my normal one on public computers) for the purposes of letting you know that in a few weeks/months (not entirely sure how long) I should be back here with my normal account. I had something happen that caused me to try and do something about some of the problems I face, which I'm doing well at (if not recently owing to the heatwave), so that's one of the primary reasons I haven't been on here.

But, rest assured, I hope to be back in the saddle releasing supplements in SAE/SNE/SUE until you beg for the Quiet Times of 2018...:)

Re: Hey everyone...murtalianconfederacy here

In some ways, it's good to be back. But one of the problems I had was that I felt like the tech was using me rather than I using the tech, and it was making me feel a bit down in the dumps. The last few months I've not been too down (threat of nuclear war notwithstanding...) and I intend, hopefully, to take it easier the next time I do eventually get internet access at home.

Re: Hey everyone...murtalianconfederacy here

Sooo...it looks like I can't actually do what I need to do to release supplements. I can save work, but I can't send it to myself. And, with only one poxy hour to do stuff, I can't possibly enter the weapons, then the ships, then post it all into a document and then format it. So, unless I find some other way to do this, I'm screwed...

EDIT 2: Aaand, now, even if I could do all that, I find that I couldn't post it from the poxy library computers anyway. WHAT IS THE POINT OF TRYING!? The only way I think I could possibly do it is by somehow releasing it via Google Docs, but I can't see how I can do that unless someone sends me a copy of the Drydock and I save it that way--even if I could. Argghh...

Re: Hey everyone...murtalianconfederacy here

After a slight meltdown, I realise I can do some supplements. However:

1) I can't do it the old-style way of via PDF document. It'll have to be a series of posts on the forum.

2) The ships will, of course, have to be done via Drake notation, which:
2a) because some of the equipment/munition items, if there are multiple rows, don't show up in the Drake notation, I'm going to have to be careful when entering information to make sure it all stays there, or design ships with less than a certain number of munitions (marines, for example)

3) I'll have to enter the weapon list into the Drydock each time I go on the computer. For some settings, not so bad. My current one, where there are three different dual-mode ortillery batteries...yeah, it might be a while.

4) Luckily, I can get extra time if needed, and in stark contrast to a few years ago, that time is free (so no paying £4 for 90 minutes).

Basically, I can release supplements, but they won't be in the classic murtalianconfederacy scheme where there's discussion, then ships, all formatted. They'll be in the form of forum posts--at least until I get things sorted out and then do a version neatly packaged with a neat bow round it.

Re: Hey everyone...murtalianconfederacy here

Another update:

1) I was so used to how I tried to do uploading that I blinded myself to another method. As it turns out, with a little bit of faffing around with window sizes I can upload stuff. So, yes, I can do supplements, and yes, I can do it the old way. It might not be as 'polished' as my earlier ones, but I can do it.

2) I really need to learn to read things properly before I start thinking everything's doom and gloom big_smile
