Coming back to the conversion of Starfire idea after it spent some time lurking in my head;
-armour can be modeled with bulkheads
-the 300 deg weapons arc in Starfire can be simulated by designing all weapons to fire in G H I J K excluding L
any conversion won't be perfect, but getting the spirit of the game is the goal
I suspected as much. Its to bad though, a fully customizable ship design system ends up putting out cookie cutter ships.
What started me thinking about this was that there is source material from Star Trek that shows the Klingon D7 as having only 2 or 4 Disruptors mounted.
I would like to see more variety. Star Fleet Battles is one of the worst for cut and paste designs; a heavy cruiser no matter what the race has 4 heavy weapons and plus phasers.
I have noticed that in weapons design most weapons are only Imp1 and Dam1
and ships tend to pack a lot of them
has anyone tried making larger dam weapons and only having a few mounted ?
Why not make the disruptors have the disruptive trait?
also the phasers on some of the fed ships could be in twin mounts
here are some of my thoughts ;
some issues with conversions - weapons have narrower arcs in Starmada unlike Starfire
- although screens work for shields there is no way to model armour like it is in Starfire
- lasers can be Lancing to skip screens but other weapons that skip over systems cannot be simulated
those are the first things that stand out for me
if anyone has ideas on how to solve these let me know

First of all, because I think they look better (and you don't have to turn your head sideways to see them).
Secondly, the shift was required to allow for customized range bands on build-your-own ships. Not necessarily relevant to the SFU, but for consistency's sake I changed these as well.
My OCD is kind of triggered with the difference, they don't match the old ones but I understand. Could you release a blank of the new format?
Looks great, but why the format change on the ship displays?
Any one notice that there are no transporters listed in the on the ship control sheets?
