First of all, please accept my apologies if this has been discussed before.

Has anyone tried applying a truly vector system to Starmada?  I'm thinking of something like the system used in Mayday, Billiant Lances, or Battle Rider (part of the Traveler series published by GDW).  In this system, you have a previous, current, and future location.  The future location is derived from the past and current locations.  You can then use the ship's engines to alter the future location.

Has anyone tried to play Starmada using such a movement system?

I've been away from these forums for a long time.  I come back, and what a pleasant surprise. Klingon Armada! Is the downloadable purchase option available like the other Starmada products?

yes, I think there used to be some in the Yahoo list archives.

Might check there....

What's the name of the Yahoo group?

I looked in starmadaxshipyard, but I didn't see any Star Wars stuff there. Is there another group?

I would think step one would be to find a list of all the values for ships in the CMG -- does such a thing exist?

Actually, my first step was to ask here to see if anyone had already made the conversion.  I didn't want to re-invent the wheel.  big_smile

I've seen talk on this forum of converting Star Trek to Starmada. Has anyone tried converting the Star Wars Collectible Starship Miniatures to Starmada?

I have the Starmada Admiralty Edition and the Imperial Sourcebook. I'd like to introduce my nephews to the game. However, I don't think they'll have the patience to plot their moves, and they won't understand the semi-vector movement system in the basic rules. So, for movement, I'll probably go with the optional plotless movement system using the old movement style.

Would the ships from the Imperial Sourcebook work under these conditions? If not, is there a better source for ships that would work under these conditions?

Thanks.

Okay, I'll make my ships smaller.  It's not a big deal. I just thought there was an inconsistency between the ship builder putting the max at 24 while the particular rule I cited includes 25 and above.

The ship builder appears to restrict hull sizes to 24.  However, the table in rule F.4 Launch & Recovery appears to allows hull sizes 25 and above. Is hull size 24 meant to be the actual limit?

Can anyone shed any light on the languages used to name ships in the ISS? I'm not talking about the Imperials and the Sss'ks as those are pretty clear. I'd like to create additional names for the other forces, but could use a hint as to how the existing names were created.  Thanks.

I'm in the middle of trying to figure out why the revised version isn't showing up on RPGNow.

This may be the problem you are currently addressing.

I received an e-mail from RPGNow saying that I'm entitled to a free download copy of Starmada: The Admiralty Edition Core Rulebook, and it included a coupon code so that I wouldn't be charged.

I just downloaded it, and I see that it is still version 0.0, December 2007. Just in case it was simply an error on the revision date, I checked a couple of items you listed as having been changed in the new edition. The items still are from the old edition.

I e-mailed RPGNow, and they said they haven't received an update from the publisher.

The modifier was changed to 1.4 in revision 1.0 of the rulebook.

I purchased the electronic version of the rulebook. It says that it is version 0.0. How can I get version 1.0?

The ISS, under C.4.1, says that combining No Range Modifiers & Range Based DMG is x2.2, but when I add these in the shipbuilder, I get x2.4.

Does version 2.11 handle combining ranged-based traits as listed in C.4.1 of the ISS?

2.11?

The version on the website says 2.1.  Was "2.11" a typo, or is there really a version called 2.11?  If the latter, where can I download it?

Reading this thread, I see that the shipbuilder is being tweaked. Where can I download the latest version?  The mj12games.com home page only has version 2.1 available for download.  Is that the latest version?

This is in reference to the Starmada AE ISS. The Hayabusa-class Arcturian Destroyer has Laser Batteries labeled "Anti-fighter" with RNG 6. Rule B.13 says that you roll one die against a target in any adjacent hex. So, what is the range of this weapon? Is it 1 or 6?

Thanks.

This is a stupid question, but what is "Tech Range"?  It's the pull-down choice in cell F8.  What is it, and why is the default 2?

Thanks.

Looking through the different factions of the ISS, I didn't see the tech levels that were used in designing the ships. Are the tech levels listed somewhere and I just missed them?

Thanks.
