So I have set a goal for myself to learn a few rule systems and decide on one.  I  really like Starmada Unity so I have selected it for spaceship gaming.  I am now looking at 15mm skirmishing or maybe bigger sized battles.  I have Defiance but not Evolution of Arms.

One requirement is to be able to use what I currently have and try to give the forces a different flavor from what is already in the book.  From what I have read so far and in the past (I've had it for some time but never tried to focus on one system before) this is possible.

Just wondering if anyone has made forces from Rebel Minis Sahadeen, Titan Force or Earth Force figures?

I will probably start out using my figures as whatever forces are in the book to learn the rules but then customize it once I feel comfortable.

Is there a spreadsheet for designing your forces?

Thank you!

Most definitely.  I just double checked a previous post

It would be in Distant Armada, I believe.  But, that is not out yet for Unity as far as I know.

I am using a method that was originally posted by Ed from Two Hour Wargames.  I am using double-sided tape. Unfortunately I have not been able to find any three-quarter's inch square pieces. Which means I have to cut them out myself. I think they are coming out OK. I do wish my printer made sharper images.

You may want to ask that on the Facebook Group:

Thanks!  Glad to hear it.  Is it planned to cover fleets released since fleet book 2?  Or, will you do separate books for those?  Just curious as I have Japanese and UNSC fleets and have been using the playtest/beta stats in FT from http://fullthrust.star-ranger.com/

I know you mention that the Starmada: Brigade Games is delayed.  Is the same true for the Full Thrust book?

Thanks.

If you like Star Trek there is the Romulan and Klingon Armada Unity products.  You can buy miniatures from Amarillo Design Bureau (ADB) and their shapeways store.

I would also look at Brigade Models for miniatures.

For a mat/map, I just use hex maps from other products I have (Silent Death, Federation Commander, etc).  I do have a mat from Hotz Mats but it was a bad shopping experience for me.  There are probably others out there.  You can even buy map boards from ADB that would work.

I have asteroids and that is about the only terrain I use, outside of other ships or bases.

I could not give accurate time estimates for game lengths.  I would say they are going to be long in the beginning until you know the rules and are also able to explain them clearly to other players.

Hope that helps.  Let us know how it goes.

This happens when traits are deleted from the list on the TABLES tab. It can be fixed by doing the following:

1) Unprotect the WEAPONS tab.

2) Unhide columns M through BE.

3) Select cells BE2:BE101.

6) Press Ctrl-D (fill down).

This should remove the #REF! errors. To finish, hide columns M through BE and protect the sheet again.

That fixed things.  Thanks!

On the subject or Drydock issues, there does not seem to be a way to add "2PP" (or however many) to the front of the traits list for photons, et al.

As mentioned, I just added a trait as 2PP or whatever PP is required on the TABLES tab. Not sure about the MOD and RB values but at least I can now select it as a trait. Hopefully that is one of the “surprises “ alluded to.

I believe this next question is more of a feature request and I am not sure where else to post this.

In SFU when you have a Drone Rack weapon, it is automatically a 360 degree firing arc.  So, in drydock if I want 1 mount with 2 drones I enter it as TT2 and on the DISPLAY tab it shows
360°2 ☐

Which is fine but I was wondering if it could replicate how it shows on the ships display in the SFU products.  It would show 2 diamonds then a ☐:

Thanks!

I know this is an old post but I would not mind trying.  Have used vassal but have not played starmada at all.  Which edition were you thinking of playing?

So I am learning Romulan Armada Unity.  I believe Drydock is not written to handle SFU modifications.  For instance the firing arc LS does not exist as an option.

I am able to easily add the firing arcs to the TABLES tab.  For instance, LS is equivalent to ACE so I added LS to the appropriate column and copied the MOD and SORT values from the ACE entry.  All seems to work well and they show on the DISPLAY tab properly.

What I am unsure about are traits.

For instance, in SFU there is the Evaporate trait.  I easily added Evp to the Abbr column but I am not sure what to put for Mod and RB? so I put 0.2 and 0, respectively.  Any suggestions?

Also, the PP attribute which specifies how many Power Points to spend on the weapon.  As an example, to Overload a Photon Torpedo you must spend 2 PP and it is shown as 2PP in the traits section.  Should I just add an abbreviation of 2PP and for the Mod and RB? columns?

And, finally, in the trait drop down there are 3 #REF! showing.  Not sure what is causing that.  I am using v1.04a in the latest Excel.  This happens without my changes.  After my changes I do sort the appropriate columns on the TABLES and WEAPONS tabs.

Thanks for any help!

In Romulan Armada Unity, page 36 under the Drones section, it says:

Drone racks have a special adaptation of the Expendable weapon trait (p.Error! Bookmark not defined.).

PDF says August 2017 Romulan Armada – Version U1.0 in the footer but I downloaded this on October 17, 2018, so I assume it is the most recent one.

Just wondering if I should wait before buying it...

For the SFU books, if we bought the current PDF will we get an updated PDF if it really is just a minor speed bump change??

I'd ask the same for the core rulebook but I am pretty sure the answer is no...

Now I wish I had not bought the rules just a month ago.

Yes, the traits marked * only apply to the (second mode) Overload.
Doubled Range Modifiers apply to both modes, RA page 36.
Unfortunately, this is not made clear on the data cards

Hope that helps.

It definitely helped.  Thanks.  One last question.  If I use the Overloaded Photon mode which is Slow Firing, can I use it as a regular Photon the next turn?  I assume I can only use it in 1 mode during a turn.

Thanks again!
