I realize I'm going to have questions ... this is one complex army design set.  I figure it might be easier to keep questions to one thread.

so, here goes with my first few questions:

1. I'm trying to wrap my head around the term "frame"  is this basically a D:Vg term for "figure/model" or am I not getting it?  For example, the books suggests that a frame is essentially something that has a single set of stats, which to me would imply a figure or model that is equipped and armed in a particular way.

In other words, every single figure that is in body armor and armed with a pistol and knife is one frame, and every figure armed with body armor but armed with a rifle is another frame .... OR, are they both the same fame with the two weapons just different options?

2. I am trying to figure out what sizes different models would constitute.  Just want to give you examples of what I think the sizes mean ... let me know if I'm correct:

Size 1 = dwarves or halfling sized creatures

Size 2  = anything around human size from smaller AT-43 humans to 40k Orks

Size 3 = mounted humans or 40k monstrous creatures; anime mechs

Size 4 = mechs such as AT-43 Striders?  or does these just become vehicles and if so, what constitutes size 4?

Okay. I'm starting to work on writing up an army using UNA.  I have some questions.

There is a lot of data that is presented when writing out the army list and the specific units and weapons, and such.  I would imagine some of this data is primarily for the creation phase versus not necessarily for the actual game play itself. Am I correct in this?

When looking at a description there is a sense of data overload.  Is there a template or anything that can be used for organizing the information for an army?  I love the style of the pages in the book describing the forces and the sample assault trooper page on the download section. Has anyone made a template of this?

Also, out of curiosity, do people use Defiance to simply convert armies from other game systems or do people  create an entire new setting and simply use miniatures from different systems to represent the armies that populate that setting?  Just curious as I understand either is viable.

Also, the Boer war-esque figures that are in the main rule book ... anyone actual manufacture those?

As I get more into reading Defiance: Vital Ground, I am starting to think about how I want to approach creating forces and which of my miniatures I want to create D:VG forces for.  I was initially thinking of using a separate rule set for my fantasy forces and D:VG for my sci fi; however after looking at the Army of Sun force created by Jouni, I am and wondering about the viability of Defiance for non-science fiction.

Is the game viable for any setting that has firearms? For example, a number of fantasy games are essentially set early renaissance.  Would it be viable to use D:VG for such settings?

For example, Confrontation miniatures wield firearms and such, as do Warmachine, and even Warhammer Fantasy.  In cases where firearms are not wielded, ranged weapons are.  Would one simply use the techno fantasy genre setting?  Perhaps use psychic powers and supernatural presence as alternatives to magic?

Also, how would one handle non-gunpowder weapons, such as bows and crossbows, or artillery?

Or would this require so much, that it would be better to look at a fantasy rule set?

Along another line, let us say I wanted to re-create an imperial guard army, from 40k, for Defiance.  Would it be better to create a "generic" force and then have augmentations that created "doctrines" as it where ... or would it be better to just write a unique force list for any given imperial guard force?
