Well, I was looking through the rules again, and I couldn't really find anything that allowed for hovering air support of any kind. Do I just have a CAS unit with VTOL attached? Or do I have to buy the true/partial flight alongside it to get the thing in the air?
To do helicopters is more or less an interpretive exercise. When you choose unit type, in this case Close Air Support (CAS) you're required to designate if it's propeller, jet, or dirigible. For a helo we're obviously talking propeller.
Since CAS get aerial modification- full flight as a freebie (for now at least), then the only other thing needed is to take the VTOL mod. Presto...instant helicopter. 
Not as neat and tidy as I'd like, but workable.
