The Vitoran race evolved from a stalking-hunter into a patient, methodical, aggressive civilization whose technology is about average.  Appearing physically similar to a cross between a terran alligator and saber-tooth tiger with opposable dew claws, the Vitorans are as physically dangerous as they are mentally.  They literally get their thrills from the hunt, either on the ground or in space.  The tougher the battle the more excited they become.  In general, the greatest population increase of the Vitoran people occurs soon after a major battle or war.

Vitoran ship design reflects their hunter mentality.  Slower than most vessels, they are usually heavily armored and quite nimble.  Long range fire is used to 'bleed' the prey, slowing it so the Vitoran ship can close for a satisfyingly bloody kill.  The Vitorans have even learned how to use their defenses in an offensive manner, rendering the use of fighters, drones, missiles, and other such small craft obsolete by their standards.  The ships that the Vitorans do use are five basic classes, though the Gunboat and Attack Cruisers are their most numerous and primary ship types.  Destroyers, Troopships, and Exterminators are generally deployed only for military operations.

The VE Gunboat is the smallest warship in the Vitoran Imperial Forces.  It is designed as a long range sniper capable of turning on a dime at a moments notice.  This ship is literally built around its four spinal mount weapons and shockwave system leaving little room for any sort of crew comforts or amenities.  The class has a major weakness in its lack of any other offensive weaponry making its survival in close combat a question.  For that reason, most Gunboat captains prefer to operate on the fringes of the battle or at long range for as long as possible.

The VE Attack Cruiser is the workhorse of the Vitoran Imperial Forces.  Able to conduct combat at any given range and heavily armored this ship is capable of most missions conducted.  Often seen operating as single ship patrols or in pairs, this class is the most numerous vessel in the VIF.  During war operations, Attack Cruisers will form the vanguard and act as a heavy screen for the Destroyers and Exterminators.

The VE Destroyer is the primary capitol ship in use by the Vitoran Imperial Forces.  Rarely seen during peacetime, these ships are almost never without at least a pair of Cruisers and Gunboats.

The VE Troopship is primarily used to transport ground forces from planet to planet.  The ship is well armed and mounts heavy defenses however allowing it to act as a rear guard or long range support for the frontline combat ships if necessary.  Seldom escorted by more than a few Gunboats, these hardy ships are only seen at garrison stations or during wartime operations.

The VE Exterminator is the heavy hitter of the Vitoran Imperial Forces.  Acting as the battle group command ships these vessels are almost never deployed outside of wartime.  Expensive to operate and maintain, this vessel proves its worth time and time again once battle is joined or a planet needs to be burned off.
