Topic: Correction and Question regarding Kuissian/Boltian universe

(Please note that this will also be posted on the VBAM Yahoo forum)

Correction:

I checked my VBAM:SX book last night and there is a difference between the book and the spreadsheets regarding the active and passive sensors. The space units for all three active and the passive sensors are listed as a percentage on the spreadsheet when they should be a base 20, 40 or 60 SUs depending on rating. The passive sensor should be 25 SUs. I also noted that the DMod for a AS III on the spreadsheet is x1.6, when in the book it reads as x1.8

Question:

How exactly are the EDT drives for ships calculated in terms of SUs? The formula in the book seems to imply that the drives are incredibly small--are these extra space units that are included on top of the base 10% for a Starmada ship, are they independent from the hyperdrive in Starmada construction (i.e., you get 10% back for non-hyperdrive, then pay for the EDT drive), or am I missing something completely?

Morning!

This will definitely have to be changed at some point in the ship
builder. Great catch!

You got it. As far as space is concerned they are seperate systems,
and yes, more efficient than the standard hyperdrive. It is the sensor
systems that tend to eat up most equipment space. It can add economic
cost to a ship too which is a consideration.

Starmada Cost:
The cost for these devices is much different than the normal Starmada
Hyperdrive. The reasoning is that some ships are capable of moving
other ships with them into the EDT field.

EDT Drive Cost (Rounding Up): ((Hull ^ 0.33) ^2) x 1.5

Economic Cost: +1 EP for every 200 SU this drive occupies.

Had me worried there!

Thought you might have meant the shipyard, but checking, I had these right.
