Topic: VBAM Question

Old Starfire Grognard.  Just picked up SAE with ISS and H&C.  Love them, especially love the history for H&C.

I loved the old Starfire campaign stuff.

I have looked at VBAM demo and it looks kewl!  However, is it worth the purchase?  What all will I need?

The thing that bothers me is...do I have to buy Starmada X as well?

In other words am I going to have to convert rules twice to use the VBAM stuff?

Matt will love hearing this. He's the guy that did the lion's share, of the verbage on that.

I've got the game, never found anyone that wanted to play.

Someone else will have to answer that.....I don't have it. I've heard a lot of good stuff about VBAM, though...

No, The Admiralty Edition is the 'Next Generation' of Starmada. Almost everything  can plug right into it. There's some differences, but nothing that I've heard of that makes me think that you've got to go back to it, unless you've got a player that's simply pining for some of the stuff that's changed from 'X'.....

Re: VBAM Question

Basic needs for VBAM is the campaign guide and VBAM the Starmada Edition.

Take a look at the "How To" pdf that goes with the Shipyard. I put a page of Starmada AE requirements for VBAM ships.
If you use the shipyard it will give the VBAM stats.

Re: VBAM Question

Thanks for the heads up!

I'll get the games and hunt up that PDF.  I didn't see it when I downloaded from the Majestic XII website.  Is that the one you are thinking about?

BTW I lived in a small town outside Ipswich for 3 years. big_smile

Cheers!

Re: VBAM Question

All that you should need are the VBAM Campaign Guide and the VBAM: Starmada Edition books. The Starmada Edition was written with Starmada X in mind, but the Admiralty Edition is close enough so as to still be compatible.

At some point, once any of us at VBAM Games has time in our schedules, we will probably revisit the Starmada Edition and get it reworked to be 100% compatible with the new edition. That being said, I think the biggest change not reconciled between SX and SAE is figuring out how to generate VBAM stats for fighter customizations. If fighting out battles in the VBAM CSCR is not an issue for you, though, then you are golden and shouldn't run into any problems.

The pdf is in the shipyard files on both Yahoo groups, mj12 and VBAM.

Tyrel, What about the shipyad small craft sheet? I think I had a fair go at providing VBAM fighter stats for Starmada AE. I would welcome any thoughts on these.
Seems I do not get much feed back unless I fluff something. Does no comment mean I must be doing something right?
