So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

Nobody knows....

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

SOMEONE knows...

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

...but we'd have to kill him if he told us?

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

Can we torture him first, until he tells us. Then kill him, and take his stuff.

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

It'd be even better if "his stuff" included the CQB supp., but I'll settle for cash 'n' cards.

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

I would also really like to know about this. It has been a work in progress for a long time now. Is it still happening? Any idea on a release date?

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

And once again the great question (Where the f**k is it?) goes unanswered, leaving behind only more questions:-
Does it exist?
Did it ever exist?
What are they trying to hide, by hiding it?

sad

All kidding aside, (and Demian or Josh can jump in here to correct me if I've gotten any facts wrong.) I believe that Josh was working on the layout work. This task was started some time ago. Then suddenly real life reared its ugly head and he began apprenticeship in a new career (based on electrical and mechanical...thingies.)

As a result of his very high workload, plus other life issues such as moving...settling into a new house etc he hasn't been able to upkeep his obligation to the project. (I know he's still chipping away at it, because I visited his place a few weeks ago and saw the progress.)

Like his previous Defiance work, its top notch. The problem is, at this rate we may never see it.

This is also holding up Assault Corps as well. You see, he is obligated to finish the Defiance supplement, and then next on his slate was AC. So the longer CQB takes, the longer it will take before he can even START the layout for AC.

But it is getting to the point where I am going to be looking for other options, as awesome as Josh's abilities are in this department.

In the grand tradition of anything related to Defiance...

Anyway, I'm sure it'll come out when it's done. With luck, a bit sooner tongue

If you stick your head out the window and listen carefully, that distant sobbing sound you hear is me as the realisation of this sets in. Especially as I also want AC to be finished sad sad sad sad

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

I sorta suspected this was the case. Good luck to Josh with his electrical and or mechanical whatsits- assuming it's a trade, good money there, nice move.

With a bit of luck he'll have some more spare time in the future.

A reasonable summary of what has been going on in my life lately - the career shift has left its mark - I sometimes work as much as 60-70hrs a week, though not as often lately. I do have a new house, with a new set of responsibilities there, and we also have a new puppy, which requires an astounding amount of time to raise him well [gives me a good idea of what it must be like to have kids... holy crap!].

I did show Justin the current piece I am working on for Defiance - it IS on my art table, with a cover painting remaining after that. Then it all gets formatted and sent off to Dan. I'm afraid I just can't give a timeline on getting through it, though.

And yeah, Justin - if you are sick of waiting, I don't blame you. I want to do the AC book, of course, but I can't expect you to wait on me forever! If you do go find someone else to do it, at least let me do the logo for you - you saw it in rough form on my studio wall, and I think you liked it... sad

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

You can reason with the puppy Josh.

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

You're allowed to put the puppy in the garage overnight.

So, a new job and two new hobbies! Small wonder you haven't gotten the supplement done... Sounds like it's pretty close tho.

That's what I thought a 3 years back when we got a puppy. Then 13mths ago along came the baby and believe me, a baby is taking things to a whole new level.

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

so ..... any news?

Why yes - here is another recently completed illustration for the interior;

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j20/grendeljd/Majestic%20XII%20Work/ImpGruntAction.jpg

Now I have a cover image to do, and some graphic design tweaks to the outer jacket [change some colours, add different text to the back flap], and the book will be done!

Oh, I have one other problem - maybe somebody out there interested in Defiance can help...

I was going to do another illustration for a page in the book that is currently half blank. I think, considering the unfortunately ridiculous amount of time that this project has taken me, I should pass on doing yet another drawing... most of you will likely agree! But that leaves a half-blank page. I think there are 2 possible solutions [if anyone has more, please pipe up!];

1] I find a generic image of space and fill the blank with that [as I do for most odd shaped blank spots in the Defiance - I just didn't want to do it for this one since its a whole half-a-page]

2] Somebody out there gets inspired to donate a piece of art suitable to Defiance, and I slip it in. I personally can't pay anyone to do this - I myself have essentially donated all the art I am doing for this particular supplement as a 'sorry for the delay' gesture. If Demian is willing to shell out for a pic, thats different.

I'm just throwing this idea out there on the fly - I haven't even run it by Demian yet... I just wanna see this book get out there, and off my plate!! Any art should be on par with any of the work published in the main rulebook [not to sound elitist - it isn't all my art in that book after all!]

Anyways, I'd love to hear from anybody about this, so...

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

If the artwork is up to par, I am willing to pay for it, though not a huge amount or anything; PM me if interested.

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

I'd be happy with either option, it will just be great to see this project complete.

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

Great to know the suplement is still moving forward!

Anyway, if either Demian or Josh has an account at DeviantArt and/or Renderosity, it might be possible to find someone there who is willing to participate with a piece. There are a number of very talented scifi amateur artists (and not so amateur, but that's another story I suppose) on both. I could ask around myself but I think it'll complicate matters too much as I can't okay the designs.

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

I've barely picked up a pen in about 6 years, so I got nothin'. Wasn't much good for a full half-page in the first place anyhow wink

Re: So what ever happened to the CQB Supplement???

Hm - Deviantart is a good idea... haveta look there.

So, just curious, did anyone like the new pic I posted? I notice it is cut off [on the right side] in the new forum, though - whats up with that?

Fishing for compliments, aren't we? tongue

Well, it's a nice piece. A good action snapshot. Not sure about how the troopers are holding on to their guns tho, all gingerly-like... What's up with that?

Taking a shot in the dark (or at least in insufficient light), the cropping I assume is due to the forum software being set at a fixed column width. Or something.
