Topic: OK Stupid question time :)

OK so there are many kinds of Mecha out there and I am curious on which version WD "feels" better simulating.

The big 4 types for me are:

1) Anime Ground Mecha (Full Metal Panic, Patlabor, etc)
2) Anime Space/Air Mecha (Robotech, Vandread, etc)
3) Anime Giant Mecha (Gundam, Parallel Duel, etc)
4) Wargame Mecha (Battletech, Heavy Gear, etc)

So which "feel" does WD aim for?

The heavy clunky clank that is Battletech or the the smooth almost alive extension of the operator that is anime?

Just wondering....

I would say these two. You can get up to some pretty slick speeds depending on the Tech Level.

Of course, the only thing clunkier than Battletech might be Gear Krieg.

It's meant to adapt to that which you want to play based on how you design your units and I was shooting for all four.

It's all in how you design them and what equipment to use.  Granted, the rules are more planet-centric as presented.  Future sourcebooks and such may expand this more.  smile

The default setting is more hard military than anime in nature but that doesn't rule out doing Gundam which one of the guys took a shot at with an earlier playtest version fairly successfully.
