The Republic of Ireland were cheated by a blatant handball by Thierry Henry yesterday in France. Ireland did what they needed to do--score a goal. The match went into extra time, and then Henry handled the ball, not once, but twice in the immediate buildup to a Gallas goal that ensured France went through to South Africa. As is the nature of these things, FIFA and UEFA will turn a blind eye towards this cheating, yet if the tables were turned, and Ireland were going through, the match would at the very least be replayed, if not awarded to France outright.
