Topic: A couple of Klingon Armada questions

Greetings!  Just played my first KA battle and really enjoyed it.  2 D-7's and a D-5 vs a Fed CA, 2 CL's and 1 FF.  It was very enjoyable and felt very true to the "trek" I'm used to, i.e. SFB & Federation Commander.  In particular I think KA really got the drone/drone defense interaction right, it just felt very well balanced, even with the Klinks poping off volleys from a cumlative 10 racks a turn.  In fact, I'd dare to say that aspect felt better balanced than either SFB or FedCom!

I'm new to Starmada but was pleased to find that the KA book really did a great job of "taking my hand" and leading me through the game system.  The few questions I had were all answered with the errata posted here, except for two, which might be obvious to those with starmada experience, but completely escaped me.

1. What happens when taking shield damage and the 3+ check to see if the damage is taken on the facing shield results in excess hits to that facing.  Are the excess hits redirected to any desired facing?

2. How do you damage items in the "special" box?  That is to say, how can the Feds knock out a few of those pesky drone racks?  How do you damage tractor beams or transportors?

Much appreciate any help clearing up these questions.  I look forward to many more KA games in the very near future!

Yes.

You can't, unless you utilize the "Critical Damage" option, which can be found in Starmada: Iron Stars or the Rules Annex.

Thanks a bunch "Cricket".  Really appreciate the quick turn-around on my questions, especially on a holiday weekend!  Best wishes this holiday season and thanks for the great game.
