Topic: ipad app for Starmada?

Dan, did you ever consider to produce an ipad app for your excellent Starmada or for SFO? Would be first on my buy list. Just an idea how you can possibly show your games to the masses.  smile  . I have played civi, medici and smallworld on it and after that I think that especially the ipad is an excellent medium for turnbased boardgames.

Re: ipad app for Starmada?

If you are thinking about it, I am booked till the end of August but would love to after that.  Starship creator alone would be worth the time.  iPad game would be epic.  Have your people call my people.  (My people is just me disguising my voice so you think I have a secretary.)

Great. Well then I´ll disguise my voice to sound like my real secretary and then I will tell myself to call you in disguise of your secretary and then...bingo! (I hope your voice will be one of those new sexy ones smile)

Re: ipad app for Starmada?

First, i'd like to see the starmada book PDFs display correctly on the iPad.   I think they have example and art images stored in JPG2000 format which the ipad is unable to display.  This makes using the PDFs as a reference on the ipad less than ideal.

A ship builder, fleet manager would be great too.  Something that you can mark off damage as it occurs during the game and flip between ships in your fleet.  It would be nice if there was a version for all the pre-built ships from SFU as well since I don't think they can be built in the standard shipbuilder.

Funny thing is that Romulan Armada displays fine on my iPad2.  I assume MJ12 made that, or did ADB?

Re: ipad app for Starmada?

I don't have an I-pad but do have an android tablet. I have done some work on a different set of rules. Impetus a Historical Ancients set. I setup an interactive QR sheet in html have a look at that, it may give you guys some ideas.

What I'm currently thinking about is some form of interactive fleet list for SFO which you check of the hull boxes. Probably using Adobe forms or some such.

If you produce a full blown app for the I-Pad then you are limiting its appeal and need to make a significant commitment to getting Apples approval to put it on the Apps store, but if you do HTML or Forms based stuff more people can use it and you do not need to jump through any of Apples loops.
