It was built specifically for the Nova Rulebook, so yes, it is up to date.
That's awesome. Thanks.
Hmm. I'm not sure if I'm using this wrong or what, but I've having some problems.
How do I add weapon traits? It's just a text entry box, but typing the name of the trait isn't working.
In the firing arc section of the ship design it has some with multiple arcs on a line, like FP, FS. Does that mean that both together cost 1.33, or that they both cost 1.33.
I haven't written the help guide for it, yet.
For weapon traits, enter the three-letter abbreviations, separated by commas.
FP and FS each have a 1.33 multiplier.
Where is the file located? Thanks...

Is there any plan to create printable SSDs from this in-house? I don't want to roll my own if you're making one.
Thanks!
That is a pretty fancy builder... Hmm... not going to stop me from rolling my own, I think, but a good link for my compadres.
I think I found a bug. I'm trying to recreate a ship from the rulebook just to make sure I understand how everything works, and having an issue.
Here's the design and the print display of it:

In the book the Close Defense Cannons are [FF2][PH4][SH4] as I designed it. In the printout they get rejiggered as you can see.
I might be doing something wrong, cause the space remaining is -31, but I don't know what.

Remember, the 2, 4, and 4 are attack modifiers, NOT the number of weapons.
If you were to build the ship with 2xFF, 1xPH, 1xSH, you would get the proper result.
Oh I see. Sort of complicated to reverse-engineer an SSD I suppose.
I found a "bug" - if you "accidentally" set your ECM to a value higher than 10, you suddenly find yourself with significantly more space to use.
ECM should probably be a select list with 0-5.
Note that the link leading to the drydock doesn't appear anywhere except here.
BTW, is it possible to download it?

Because it's not "live" yet. The link is provided in the rulebook, however...

Sadly, no.

Still had no time to peer it...

I must be thick, or unable to work my calculator properly. I tried working out the formula for the armour's defence score in the construction section, and got a totally different result (.24 as opposed to 1.40). Not looking good...:(

I agree that something is broken in defenses, but in a different way.... Given a hull 12 with 12 points of armor (armor score 2, which it generates correctly), it generates a DRAT of 40.08. Per the errata thread, I believe this should be 12 * 2^1 = 24...
I'm going to throw the spreadsheet I've been working on up into the Files section as soon as I get non-integer BAS working, I think. Should provide an additional data point for comparison.

I don't have a calculator that'll do Log to the base "root one half" so I looked online:
http://www.1728.org/logrithm.htm
Using this site, I evaluated the logarithm of 1.625 (that is "8 plus 5, the sum divided by eight") with a base of .707, and it came out -1.40, which marches with the formula and example in the rules...
Hmm, that might explain it. Just need a calculator that allows you to do that sort of calculation. My 'new' calculator is still around 10 years old, and my standard one even older, so it might not be too surprising...

Not broken -- another piece of errata.
I added a factor of x1.67 to the DRAT to make the final combat rating results comparable to those in SAE, but failed to add it in the rulebook...
I just found the drydock. Its a great idea and helps to create ships very fast. Allow me to suggest some additional features it could have:
-Firing Arcs - why not having the option to just click at a firing arc diagram to select the arcs of a weapon? So I dont have to memorize the 20 arc shortcuts during ship design.
-Weapon-Traits and Special Equipment - why not just have a "check-box" with the traits + little mouse hovering description what game effect it has - and the possibility to select the trait by just clicking inside the checkbox? So I dont have to open the rulebook every time to find the shortcuts for the traits and special equipment.
-saving to desktop - why is it not possible to save the ship card directly to my desktop? (eg as a jpeg or bmp?)
While I agree that it would be handy to have some reference for the arcs and traits, I for one really hate it when people show up with ships that they have designed but they don't know what they do! At least if you have to open the rulebook to figure out the arcs and traits you want you'll have read about them.

I designed t he "Large Dreadnought" USS ARIZONA today using the link in this thread. I look forward to this game coming online soon. I was unsure hot to add any Special Equipment such as Fire Control, or other extra stuff. Also unsure how to add weapon traits such as Piercing, ect.
I definitely look forward to the Nova Edition and find this Dry Dock to be fun to fiddle with. Keep up the Good Work! 8-)
