Hey everyone, just got signed in today! I was pointed to Defiance
as a good set of rules for Powered Armor based games and so far it
looks like this is true.
My only real concern is vehicles, and it looks like this has been
expressed before. The universe I'm doing is based on the
Makzbv3000/SDFS, if not here's a couple of links:

http://www.roboterkampf.com/roboterhtml/htmlmakvis/index.htm

http://home.att.net/~mak3000/hm.html

anyway, I'm working on a line of models in resin to game with and
I've been poking around for a eet of rules to use. The game I wanna
build is based around the Powered Armor you see on those pages.
It's sort of retro and has a love it or hate it sort of look, I love
it.
Anyway, there's tons of power armor to sculpt but I also want to do
some of the larger walker types, like this:

http://www.roboterkampf.com/roboterhtml/htmlmakvis/fuchs.htm

http://www.roboterkampf.com/roboterhtml/htmlmakvis/elefanten.htm

Can the game still handle this sort of machine? (Im reading through
the basic rules and am ordering the full set of rules tomorrow but I
wanted to ask up front.)

Too involved in Iron Stars to get into Defiance, but always willing to
help a fellow gamer out. FWIW, I really DIG the SDFS setting - saw it
in stores back in the 80's - but I was doing the SFB thing back then.

Hopefully, someone on the forum here can answer any questions.

Thanks for the heads-up...

Anyway. I hope the forwarding to Yahoo's still on...

Hi Jason! Spoke with you shortly on TMP and did wonder what you meant by "being here" (MJ12 forum) as I didn't recall seeing the sig red5angel. This sorta explain it

Firstly. Come to the dark side... --> http://mj12games.com/forum/

Secondly, and likely a bit late if you are already reading the full rules: the ability to handle larger mecha/walkers depends a little on what level of detail you want to accomplish.

D:VG does do vehicles, in five distinct type: Light, Mecha, Anime Mecha, APC and AFV. It works with even quite big vehicles (for AFVs at least). But it's an infanry game so the number of vehicles you can design is smaller than the number of different infantry frames. The vehicles are also fairly abstracted so there would be no difference between a walker, a tracked and a wheeled APC for example (flight- and jump-capable are available tho).

There are also genre option you might want to consider, such as "mecha genre".
