Topic: Errors in the Shipbuilder Spreadsheet

Unless I am misreading something, I have discovered the following errors in the Shipbuilder spreadsheet:

    [*] Area Effect = x2.0 (should be x3.0)
    [*] Doubled Range Mods = x1.0 (should be x1.1)
[*] Increased Damage (this is a Fighter Trait, not a Weapon Trait)
[*] Increased Impact (missing from Weapon Trait listing)
    [*] Piercing = x1.4 (should be x1.5)

I am working with CORE EDITION, Version 2.2, 24-Apr-08.

Edit: used small, olive-colored, italic text to indicate those errors that are not, in fact, errors...

Re: Errors in the Shipbuilder Spreadsheet

The Increased Damage should actually be Increased Impact.  It's a typo not yet corrected. smile

Re: Errors in the Shipbuilder Spreadsheet

And the area-effect, doubled-range modifiers, and piercing traits were all repointed as of the errata in the Imperial Sourcebook. I'm sure its also floating around on the front page with the updated turn order sequence...

Re: Errors in the Shipbuilder Spreadsheet

OK... if this is there (or anywhere, for that matter), I cannot find it.

I would have thought that errata would be included in the "STUFF.ZIP" file. Not there. Not in any of them. So... if these have, indeed, been updated (which is fine, it means that the work I have been doing up to the point where I discovered these anamolies is not lost), then I can find no trace of it anywhere.

Dan: can you verify these?

Re: Errors in the Shipbuilder Spreadsheet

The corrected values are provided in the updated Appendix A, which is on the Starmada page of the web site.

Lemme respond to myself before someone else does...

No, they aren't. sad

I should correct that for the next update of Appendix A -- it should contain the modifiers for all weapon traits.

And, KDL -- for the record, I can confirm that the values in the version of the shipbuilder you are using are "correct".

Re: Errors in the Shipbuilder Spreadsheet

Yea, Dan... I had checked there. In fact, I thought it odd that the Ship Options had the numbers listed, and weapon stats did not (in fact, I would think that Appendix A might want to include Fighter numbers as well).

No problem.

This leaves the one typo as the only thing wrong in the shipbuilder sheet.

(You are the man!)

Re: Errors in the Shipbuilder Spreadsheet

I am reposting this here because it was in a thread about the Shipyard series of spreadsheets and I should have put it here. It really concerns Shipyard CORE v2.2 that is on the MJ12 website although as you can see the same issue was ported into the Shipyard sheets as well.

Well, I've noticed a little error that crops up in the CORE Shipbuilder from the MJ12 website. specifically in the way that Weapon TL affects ORat calculations of Battery X,Y and Z in cells G20, G26 and G32 of version 2.2. If all of the TLs are set at 0 and a ship is designed, when you change the weapon TL to say +1 or -1, the ORat of the design changes. This shouldn't happen. This is happening due to the weapon TL mods being nested in multiple Round functions in cells J19, J25 and J31 and then being unapplied in Cells G20, G26 and G32, throwing the rounding off.
I haven't used the Shipyard programs to see if they are duplicating this rounding error.

Guilty, in an effort to get the two spreadsheets to give the same results I made this sort of mistake in the shipyard. Since your post I have been through the shipyard and made corrections. Had to add a bit since they have to account for dual mode weapons as well. Will be in version 27. Thank you for spotting it.

It's not an "error" ... it's a "feature". smile
