Topic: Starmada Dreadnoughts Errata
Played a game with my wife last night. Found an error:
Fire arcs for X batteries on the Dreadnought are incorrect.
Dreadnought X battery should be:
[ABCD] [AC] [BD] [CD] [CDEF]

And... ?
Who won?

Wow... and where the heck did the 9.2" guns come from?
Whoops...
Is the French BB Courbet record sheet correct? It lists it's 12"/45 guns as being range 6.
No, that is not correct. They should be range 9.
Actually she did. LOL!!
Heh. . . didn't even notice the secondary battery being 9.2s. Well I did. . . and it struck me a little wierd. . . but I didn't actually check. Shame on me.
My best guess at this point is that the Dreadnought data card is actually for the Lord Nelson-class pre-dreadnought.
So, bonus!
I'll get a revised Dreadnought (and Courbet) data card up shortly.

For what it's worth, the Lord Nelson has ten 9.2" secondaries.

Right -- which is why the 9.2" guns have a ROF of 2; one for each barrel.

Will the published LULU version of the book be updated with the errata? If so, so you have an estimate as to when this will happen?
A couple more items.
USS Pennsylvania had 4x3-14"/45 but has ROF 2.
USS Nevada had 10x14"/45, twins over triples, but has ROF 3.
I guess you would need to split the battery to do it right.
HMS Furious, 18"/40's should be single mounts, has ROF 2.

My source says they were 2-gun turrets...
And, it would seem, my source is wrong.

Yup. There were a couple ships where I "fudged" a bit in order to avoid having two separate batteries for a single size of gun.
HMS Furious, 18"/40's should be single mounts, has ROF 2.
*sigh*
Any others?
(Four out of 100 ain't bad, right?)
I wouldn't sweat it. I would expect some errors to creep in with as many ship data sheets as you've got in the book. Its just a matter of fixing them when they get found.
Well, the good thing is that the errors are only in terms of historical conversion -- in terms of game play, the "incorrect" versions of the ships are still very much playable and balanced under the point system.
And this guy (who doesn't have any info on WWI ships) wouldn't have the slightest clue that anything was wrong! That is once I buy the hard copy (for nothing else then having those extra abilities and another book with my name in it - I'm so dispressing)...
I am 'in' it, right?

I'm a completist, so I will get it. I just want to get one that is as "up to date" as possible.
Plus, I generally get three copies: one color (for me, and for sitting on my shelf untouched most of the time), one b/w for general use, and one b/w for my sister and her gaming group in Warsaw, MO.
Okay, with the help of Mr. Pehrson, I've found some more errors, for a total of 13 in all. Here's the updated list:
AUS Novara: 3.9" guns are not Piercing +1 (CR 32)
FRA Courbet: 12" guns are Range 9 (CR 306)
DEU Hindenburg: Misspelled as "Hindenberg"
ITA Nino Bixio: Torpedoes have Ammo 2 (CR 69)
JAP Ibuki: 5.9" guns are 4.7" with Range 9 (CR 145)
RUS Potemkin: 6" guns are Range 9 (CR 126)
RUS Rostislav: 6" guns are Range 9 (CR 87)
UK Canopus: 6" guns are non Piercing +1 (CR 86)
UK Dreadnought: 12" gun firing arcs are [ABCD][AC][BD][CD][CDEF]; 9.2" guns should not exist (CR 216)
UK Furious: 18" guns are ROF 1 (CR 159)
UK Invincible: 12" guns are 45-caliber
UK Iron Duke: Torpedoes are Range 6, Impact 3 (CR 382)
USA Pennsylvania: 14" guns are ROF 3 (CR 669)

Sorry for the sloppy proofing -- the responsible parties have been sacked.
UK Canopus: 6" guns are non Piercing +1 (CR 86)
OH Poo!
NON PIERCING +1?
Thought I was seeing things. No, listed on page 9:-
Non-Piercing [X] (Weapon, varies) . . . C4 DRN
Except it aint! Unless there is a page missing between 12 & 13.

NON PIERCING +1?
Actually, that should be "NOT Piercing +1" -- i.e. the guns are neither piercing nor non-piercing.

That was something in an earlier draft of the book that was subsequently removed -- but apparently remained in Appendix A.
Hmmm...
Wunder if this was prufred?

The sister ships, Courageous and Glorious, did have two twin 15-inch (381mm) guns, but Furious only had single turrets. They were meant for Baltic Sea deployment, IIRC, so they had to be light--like the Scandinavian monitors like the Gustav V and Vainamoinen

According to Conway's Furious was converted to a carrier before the forward turret was completed. Upon completion, she had one single gun 18"/40 cal aft turret (CDEF) and a forward flight deck. Soon after, the aft turret was replaced with an aft flight deck.
Kevin
Admiral Spaun class CL had seven 3.9", not nine.

True. I think the reason given for the total conversion was because the aircraft had a hard time landing on the deck with all of the superstructure in the way.
But, originally, the Furious, Courageous and Glorious were designed to operate in the Baltic Sea in one of Fisher's more...erratic ideas.
The turrets onboard the two 15in light battlecruisers were used on the Vanguard as well, weren't they? One of the most stable gun platforms ever, hardly rolling while the Iowa-class battleships in the NATO operation in the Atlantic were rolling all over the place...
Erzherzog Karl -- the way it's typed up, has eight 9.4" guns. Four mounts with RoF 2 each. Historically it only had two turrets -- one forward and one aft.
