Topic: Shipyard and VBAM Stats

Is there any trick to getting a high AF score when you build ships in Shipyard (where else would you build them?)? I was thinking that Shipyard is a great tool for allowing players in a VBAM campaign to design their own ships. Give them some point guidelines for different classes, let them design and then take the resulting VBAM stats. Voila!

However, I was trying to design some Anti-Fighter escorts and tried all kinds of things but always ended up with a higher AS score than AF score. I even tried using Anti-Fighter Batteries and still my AS was higher. Thoughts?

Re: Shipyard and VBAM Stats

Why nobody else spotted this is a mystery.
It is not adding Anti-Fighter Batteries, I fluffed one of the cells on the template.
I will fix this later today, look out for version 18. Also, since main batteries can now have the Anti-Fighter trait I feel that these should also be included when it is used.
I will also put this in version 18.

Do not forget to check out the VBAM requirement page in the Shipyard "How To"pdf.

Thanks for looking into it!

I thought you were supposed to get what you pay for? The support you give this free tool is outstanding!  :!:

Re: Shipyard and VBAM Stats

Thanks.

I have just posted version 18 on the mj12 and VBAM yahoo groups.

Re: Shipyard and VBAM Stats

A way you can do this in VBAM:SX if thats what you're using is to use the Anti-Fighter trait KDLadage used and I converted to use for VBAM. It was, instead of the S:AE version, a weapon that could only fire at fighters, and had a modifier of x0.3, and in VBAM terms means that when calculating the AS statistic you subtract the ORat of any battery with the Anti-Fighter trait from the total ORat, then calculate the AS (of course, with no weapon batteries at all this should equal zero). With that you can have ships armed exclusively to deal with fighters. Its a rule I use frequently in my campaigns.
