Topic: Apologies to the non-sports fans...

...but I wanted to note that Kurt Warner will be the first man to start the Super Bowl at QB for two different teams.

Not bad for a guy who was out of football stocking groceries once upon a time.

And he could have very well won this year's MVP award.
And if his team wins the Superbowl, you could probably make an argument that he's Hall of Fame Material.

Make that SHOULD have.

I can argue that already.

I think he was one of the Gaurds in "Escape From New York"....

Re: Apologies to the non-sports fans...

I thought the gourds were in "Veggie Tales"

Sorry, "GUARDS"...

But yes, there's Gourds - Larry The Cucumber is funnier though, in my opinion.

Re: Apologies to the non-sports fans...

Not bothered that much about cricket. My county team is crap and my national team is in meltdown...

Darts? Watch it occasionally, not that bothered...

Irish Rugby? As in the Magners League or something?

Now, football is a sport, and is important enough to be the spark that caused a war between El Salvador and Nicaragua. When Dallas and Miami go to war over an American football match, be sure to let me know...:D

(BTW, having a family that watches American football, as well as baseball (yawn), Aussie rules football and Gaelic football, I do like American football)

But a question, if I may ask one:

There is a sport that I can't remember the name of that used to be shown over here around ten to fifteen years ago, which originates from the Indian sub-continent. I'll try to explain it:

There are two teams, and the game is played in rounds. Each round, one member from a team has to cross into the other teams half, who are all holding hands and form part of a circle. The lone player has to try and tag one of the players and then get over the line before he himself is tagged. If he does, his team gets a point. If not, the other team gets the point.

Does anyone know what the game is called?

Yes, it is. I do like me some footy.

Honestly, I won't deny that cricket and rugby are sports, too -- heck, I can acknowledge that NASCAR and even golf are sports, albeit ones I couldn't care less about.

Of course, all this is getting off of the main topic, which is that Kurt Warner is my hero. smile

How do you watch baseball over there? Is it carried on Sky Sports?

Does anyone know what the game is called?

Never heard of it.

Reminds me vaguely of 'Red Rover', but that's a kid's game...

Re: Apologies to the non-sports fans...

Yes, I think I can give you NASCAR and golf...:)

Nah, its on a channel called five, one of the terrestrial channels. Only one match a week though. American football is carried on the same channel. Gaelic football and I think Aussie rules used to be on channel four, along with the game no-one knows about, and is now being shown on Setanta.

While I would not pay the 50$ plus for watching sweaty padded men pound each other, I'd pay money to see THAT...I already have a flak jacket, all I need is a good Kevlar....

First move needs to be an airborne assault of Miami after carpet bombing the gang-infested areas to take out potential combatants and reduce the amount of urban clearing that we'd need to do. We could establish a front across the peninsula about where Orlando is, and set up re-supply points there.
