Topic: Starmada Iron Stars questions

Bet you just knew it would be me eh?

Have not read it through yet but here goes as I am up to page 8.

Teleporters (per)   ORAT  +20?

They were changed to +10 in revision 1 of the SAE
Have they gone back up or is this a result of cut and paste?

Poo.

They did not go up. That's a typo.

Obviously, I'll fix it... but give it a few days to make sure there aren't any more.

Re: Starmada Iron Stars questions

The Faceted Shielding, states that the sum of the facet ratings cannot exceed 25, that's ok I've put that in, but no mention is made with regards to a maximum rating for a facet.

Might I make a suggestion, whilst making any changes.
On page 11 Anti-fighter batteries, you could expand upon "roll one die against a target". Anyone reading for the first time would ask, Is it a flight or each fighter in a flight that is rolled against as a target?

Re: Starmada Iron Stars questions

If the printed copy is purchased , will the corrections be included?

Re: Starmada Iron Stars questions

Small difference to Piercing (+1) and Non-piercing (-1) mods.
Piercing (SAE Rev 1.0) mod change to 1.4 (as in official sxca),  Piercing +1 given as 1.5
Non Piercing mod = 0.7 (as in official sxca), Non-Piercing -1 given as 0.8

Very little difference I know, change to new figures?

Page 26 of the Core Rulebook (rule 5.4) states "Each fighter flight is considered a separate target".

Obviously, I can't correct books that have already gone out, but I will make changes as appropriate (one of the benefits of "print on demand").

Having said that, the only error found so far is in Appendix A, which is subject to change with each release anyway...

Honestly, I don't know why the numbers 0.7 and 1.4 came about in the first place.

These numbers are as correct as I can make them:

Piercing +3 = 2.0
Piercing +2 = 1.8
Piercing +1 = 1.5
Non-Piercing -1 = 0.8
Non-Piercing -2 = 0.6
Non-Piercing -3 = 0.5

Re: Starmada Iron Stars questions

Your comment reminded me of something....

I still think that Dan oughta sell T-Shirts:

- just a MJ12 shirt

- Once for 'Minions'

- One for 'Lackeys'

- others with the various ranks....

...and throw into the mix an 'Old School' T-shirt.

No one but me Ian and I can wear the 'Art Fairy' T-Shirt, though...

Re: Starmada Iron Stars questions

At the risk of talking with my mouth full of pages????

Critical Damage track on page 19 has one bullet missing.

Effects of Critical Damage, page 20.
Boarding Pods. Roll for each remaining boarding pod? That could be a whole lot of pods!

And finish your reading or you can't have any dessert!  lol
Cheers,
Erik

PS I'm looking forward to the newest version of the shipyard. Problem is, Dan keeps adding things that I really like to the game, so I have to keep going back to do ships over to incorporate the new stuff. Eventually I have to put on the blinders for a while, ignore updates and changes and just finish some ships and PLAY!!!!

Re: Starmada Iron Stars questions

Page 20. Mines. Boarding mine factor?

Now that would give people nightmares! A mine that crawls in through the airlock or any other opening before going off. yikes

Just need clarification with regards the Boarding pods on page 20 and the shipyard will be done (I hope). It often happens that it takes another pair of eyes to spot mistakes.
I have also added another page to the "How to" pdf guide. I will upload both ASAP.

We got those already. They're called female crew members. *rim shot*

lol  lol  lol

Re: Starmada Iron Stars questions

Perhaps the boarding mine factor refers to a new secret weapon:  Mimes (!)  yikes
They distract the crew of the boarded ship my amazing and entertaining them,  This gives the boarded ship a "-1" on all weapon to hit rolls and may also effect manuevering... tongue

Re: Starmada Iron Stars questions

Mimes don't come out until Dan and company get done with STARMADA: BOZO WARS!

The burning question in everyone's mind might be whether or not Mimes use Airtight suits, as their effects are rather devastating on ships without an "Impressive Orator". If they don't, they can be considered a expendable munition, and only last one turn - that would reduce the cost, and keep the effect from carrying over from turn to turn.

Re: Starmada Iron Stars questions

I had visions of the "boarding mines" as crab like, when a ship hits them they sprout legs. Then scuttle about over the surface of the ship. Extra hull damage?

Anyhow in case someone did not notice, I posted the updated shipyard in the files. Please multiply the boarding pod check offs by the number of pods in the flights. If this is correct I suspect Dan may have bought shares in a company making D6's lol

Sorry no Mimes, yet!

Paul

Re: Starmada Iron Stars questions

Made the following (very minor) edits:

Page 8: Teleporters are +10, not +20 to ORAT

Page 12: Second to last paragraph reads: "In starship construction, no facet may be assigned a rating of more than 5, and the sum of a starship's facet ratings cannot exceed 25. Multiply this sum by the appropriate shield factor and divide by 5, rounding up to the next integer. For example, a ship of hull size 11 (shield factor 134) and shield facets of 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, and 1 would require 402 SUs (134 × [4 + 3 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 1] ÷ 5)."

Page 19: Critical hits diagram has a bullet in the "3" box.

Page 20: "Mines" bullet reads: "Roll once for each remaining mine factor; damage indicates the loss of one factor."
