Topic: Starmada: Iron Stars now available

Majestic Twelve Games is proud to announce the release of Starmada: Iron Stars -- a "crossover" product linking together two of our most popular gaming systems.

Queen Victoria died in January, marking a literal and symbolic end to the 'Victorian' era. Two new powers—the United States and Japan—were entering the world stage, even as many in the old guard began to creak under the weight of their own might. Communism, in the person of Vladimir Ilych Lenin, had begun to rear its head in Czarist Russia. Technology and the industrial revolution were changing everything, including the weapons of war. And while the "Boxer Rebellion" in China was easily quashed, the incident demonstrated growing resentment of European dominance.

It was into this powder keg that the first Martian cinder fell, in a Surrey field during the spring of 1901.

Starmada: Iron Stars reveals a world in crisis. Recovery from the Martian Invasion is slow, and its effects will be felt for decades to come. Hopes that the extraterrestrial threat would result in a new spirit of cooperation and coexistence have been quickly dashed, with the Great Powers scrambling to take advantage of technological tidbits left behind by the invaders. While recent conflicts have been thankfully limited in scope, it seems only a matter of time before Humanity is engulfed in a new conflagration—this time of its own making.

The intent of this product is to introduce fans of the Iron Stars universe to the Universal Game of Starship Combat, while at the same time exposing those Starmada players who may have been reluctant to jump into a different environment a glimpse at an alternate Earth in which the Martian Invasion really happened.

Even if you're not thrilled at the possibilities of Edwardian space combat, there is plenty in these pages to expand any Starmada setting, including new options like:

* Faceted shielding
* Crew-killer weapons
* Etheric movement
* Critical damage

And more!

Starmada: Iron Stars is not a stand-alone product; ownership of the Starmada Admiralty Edition Core Rulebook is required. For more information about Starmada, Iron Stars, and all of our products, please visit our web site: http://www.mj12games.com

Re: Starmada: Iron Stars now available

I've bought the PDF file from Mj12Games. It was nice. One thing though. The link only stays active 24 hours?
The service provided by RPGNow.com gives a link with 5 downloads. It's a safety net that maybe MJ12 should add.

Anyway, thanks!

I've upped the download life to 72 hours. As of right now, I don't know how to set it to X number of attempts.

Re: Starmada: Iron Stars now available

Thanks, Daniel. I think it will give people a more confortable window of opportunity.

Re: Starmada: Iron Stars now available

It's been an awfully quiet 24 hours around here. Must have something to do with S:IS being out there for everyone to digest. Well, everyone except for OldnGrey who was talking with his mouth full of pages 1 through 8 last night    wink  and continues to do so today!
Thanks Dan, once again, for putting out quality stuff. Now (at the risk of attracting the ire of Admiral Dugan), back to work! No time to rest on your laurels!  lol
Cheers!
Erik

Thanks, both for the feedback and the spurs in the butt. smile

For the record, although I'm very fond of the cover I managed to do for the Core Rulebook, I have to say this is the best Starmada book cover yet... It's simple, but there's just something about it I really like. Good job, Dugan!

Thanks, Dan - but I couldn't do it without your critical eye, or those spiffy backgrounds!

..and I thought this was gonna take 'two weeks' to finish - that was what? a few days?  big_smile

Re: Starmada: Iron Stars now available

Isn't just the cover. There's a couple REALLY good pics in the book itself...and it looks like the ship images were revamped a bit as well.  big_smile

Well, yes and no.....

I usually use just a generic bluey star backdrop to render against, empasizing what the ship looks like, not the scene - the point being to show the ship's guns/features...

These are more like 'story boards', not that we're telling a story, but that the emphasis is the action, not the ship(s). I did these in a more controlled environment with better lighting, and against better backdrops that Dan supplied.

I've pretty happy with how they turned out, and so is Dan, apparently.  8-)

Believe it or not, I probably push myself as hard as anyone else could - if not more.

I do appreciate useful criticism, though...

But I'm leaving the raspberry.....
