Topic: Starmada Errata

Where can I find errata for the various versions of starmada, ie. Stamada AE, Starmada X and the various spinoffs?

Thanks

Re: Starmada Errata

Well, a quick search of this forum would be a good place to start...

I already serched the word "Errata" but the result was

The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: errata.

So any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Okay... I guess I wasn't understanding the question properly.

Are you looking for something specific, or just wanting to know all of the changes that have been made since the initial release? If the latter, I'm afraid I won't be able to help with pre-Admiralty editions; it's just been too long.

Regarding Admiralty errata, there haven't been too many.

Changed capacity requirement of boarding pods to 16.
Changed ORAT of teleporters to 10.
Changed "area effect" modifier to x2.0; "doubled ranged modifiers" modifier to x1.0; and "piercing" modifier to x1.4.
Clarified the effects of cloaking on combat by adding the following to B.3: Cloaking Device: "A cloaked ship may not be attacked by opposing weapons and/or fighter flights (even those with the 'area effect' trait; see option C.4: Weapon Traits) unless it has been detected (see below). However, a cloaked ship is subject to other forms of damage, such as from minefields (see option B.8: Mines)."

Re: Starmada Errata

I was looking for all the changes/modifications, those specifically in AE HC and ISS.  So thanks.
I did buy X but I can understand the lack of data on an older version of the flagship game.

Thanks Again

Well the newest product (Dreadnought) has piercing (+1) at 1.5, and teleporters at +20 so it is hard (for me at least) to know what is the latest correct value. Perhaps a stickied thread with a consolidated and updated mod for everything would be useful?

This is great but still doesn't tell me that the ORAT of teleporters is now 10; the "area effect" modifier is now x2.0; "doubled ranged modifiers" modifier is now x1.0; and the "piercing" modifier is now x1.4.
I love the direction that Starmada has taken. Its just that all of the rules and options are spread over many supplements now and the little changes are getting hard to keep track of. :?

Re: Starmada Errata

Honestly, getting a little spread out is just a symptom of a growing and maintained game system.

My opinion, anyway....

Re: Starmada Errata

By no means am I critisizing the new additions. Keep 'em coming! I would just like to see an always updated list of the Weapon Trait and Starship Options tables. It is very close now. for example the A.4 Index of options in Iron Stars (and other books) lists the supplement that the rules are found in...just can we add the mod to that table? That way the newest supplement will be the official one. It seems from the comments in other threads that this is currently true but you have to dig a little to get the values.
Anyway, love the game, keep up the great work.

Actually piercing started as x1.5, was changed to x1.4 in revision 1 and now Quote Dan:
"Honestly, I don't know why the numbers 0.7 and 1.4 came about in the first place.

These numbers are as correct as I can make them:

Piercing +3 = 2.0
Piercing +2 = 1.8
Piercing +1 = 1.5
Non-Piercing -1 = 0.8
Non-Piercing -2 = 0.6
Non-Piercing -3 = 0.5
Daniel Kast "

From the Starmada:Iron Stars questions thread. Back to x1.5

Re: Starmada Errata

I see people talking about "revisions" of products.  While I know this is a cool part of POD, is there a place somewhere that could just list what the latest revisions are? It would be a nice checklist.

Re: Starmada Errata

If there is a reprint, perhaps Fire Control could be renamed "Advanced Fire Control".  :?:
This would make this item a little less confusing for new players.

As a former Traveller player, I'd suggest "Improved".

...to be followed by "Superior", then "Advanced"....

I always assumed it was 1/sqrt(2) and sqrt(2), myself.  I assumed Dan was trying to have an power function curve for effect vs. SUs.

It's actually based on the average change in effectiveness:

A normal weapon will require X number of impact points to cause one point of damage, where X equals:

Shields 0 = 1.0
Shields 1 = 1.2
Shields 2 = 1.5
Shields 3 = 2.0
Shields 4 = 3.0
Shields 5 = 6.0

The sum of these values is 14.7. A Piercing +1 weapon will alter X as follows:

Shields 0 = 1.0
Shields 1 = 1.2
Shields 2 = 1.2
Shields 3 = 1.5
Shields 4 = 2.0
Shields 5 = 3.0

The sum of these values is 9.9. Divide 14.7 by 9.9, and you get 1.48484848...

Re: Starmada Errata

That's interesting.

I knew that you used math to try to balance things, but the insight into your thinking process is somewhat enlightening. The difference between the dabbler and the professional, I guess....

Re: Starmada Errata

What about having a sticky for each Starmada product which could be maintained with update errata info.
