Topic: Half hexes?
I was looking at the rulebook for the answer and I couldn't find the answer:
For leaving the gameboard, are the half hexes on the two sides of the map considered in play or out of play?

Hmm. Strange question
I looked too and couldn't find anything. In at least 1 game I played with MadSeason I had a ship "bisected" and we decided that it was still technically on the board, but we weren't playing for points. It seems like a gray area.

My preference would be that they are out of play, but I'm not sure it really matters one way or the other. As long as everyone knows the "ground rules" before the game begins, you can do it either way.
FWIW - every hex game I have ever played has considered half hexes to be "in play." Could be a house rule.
Same here as MadSeason. I remember some hexmaps where all halfhexes are blacked/greyed out. As long as the map in use displays terrain (ground/space) it is a valid hex I guess.
I've actually played games that half hexes are and aren't in play so I wanted to get the official ruling. That and I´ll need those 35 points if I am going to have a chance to pull out a win in the gold PBEM game (stupid die roller)!

In the games I play, we use a floating map and have used the half hexes for a unit that was going to turn so we didn't have to move everyone.. I say, "Use ''em!" There are no map edges in outer space.
This whole topic wouldn't have been necessary if I had paid attention typing in my orders!

Since you are currently beating me by more than 400 points, I don't think the 35 points are going to matter!
