Topic: X to A for B ?

Cryptic, as always. Sorry...

What's the actual conversions needed to turn Starmada X / Brigade into the current Admirality edition?
There's a number of equipment choices that is either scrapped or merged. Is there an exact list of these things to do between these two versions? Ie from X to E.

Yup. Pages 69-74 of the Admiralty Core Rulebook.

Re: X to A for B ?

Problem is... I just got StarXB and them pages are not in the SAE-demo. And it feels really silly to dish out for SE immediately like this.

Re: X to A for B ?

I never posted the conversion rules as a free download, for two reasons:

1) I wanted to encourage people to buy the rules. smile

2) The conversion isn't all that useful without the rest of the book.

Re: X to A for B ?

I can understand §1, but §2 makes §1 redundant, wouldn't you agree?

And it's a bit of a turn off to dish out for an edition as new and just then realise it's obsolete...

I'm sorry, but I'm confused... what's obsolete?

Re: X to A for B ?

So you want to play the newest edition but you don't want to pay for it?  :?

Just grab the shipbuilder, plug-in the numbers and pick a special ability that's close to the one in the X:B rules. There's no phenomenal, cosmic knowledge on those 5 pages. You're going to have to buy AE though if you want to find out what all the special ability do.

Have you tried Starmada Brigade yet though? It might be obsolete but X was still a good game.

Re: X to A for B ?

My apology, this came out wrong... Off course I will get the SAE as soon as I can. And I think it has quite some development going for it.
I like SXB, no trouble there. But as the design notes say, there's some things that work better as in SAE, and there's streamlining to boot.

Re: X to A for B ?

If you are using Starmada X Birgade with the ships I would suggest just using Starmada X.

If you are intrested in more options then that were available in Starmada X then I would Suggest Starmada AE.

Starmada X come out in 2000 and Birgade came out in 2005. Almost five years ago. I know how you feel I bought a game called FNG last week and I heard that they are comming out with a new editon this year. We just have to do a little research before we buy.
