Topic: Mines

The rules don't seem to stipulate that a ship needs LOS in order to place mines. Should it be required? This rarely an issue but asteroids and planets can cause this question to be raised. As happened to me today.  smile

Re: Mines

Well, as the rules don't say that LOS is required, then you'll just have to accept what happened to you.

However, I would be supportive of adding such a rule -- I'm sure it was my intent (or would have been if I'd thought about it).

Re: Mines

I've always played it as the mines being placed in a hex that the ship has passed through during the movement phase of the turn they are to be layed.

Well, since I was the doer and not the doee, it worked out to my opponent's benefit. I declared from high atop my high horse, standing on a soapbox, that the rule should probably be LOS and so I placed my mines accordingly, rather than in the optimal, unsighted hex.

I just thought it was worth bringing up for future editions, or something.
