Topic: Seekers

I am running a CON game at the begining of June, and these are a few questions I have.

How do Seekers and Asteroids work in Klingon Armada?

Also how many probes can you fire durring the same turn?
(I think all of them)

also, I can fire the same amout of drones as you could launch fighters in regular starmada according to hull size right?

Thats all my questions.....................Thanks.....................Doug

Re: Seekers

1) I'm not sure what you mean, "How do seekers and asteroids work in Klingon Armada?" The same as in "regular" Starmada, I suppose...

2) Each probe fired counts as a separate "flight". (See below.)

3) A group of 4 drones is one flight. The number of flights you may launch in a single turn is limited by hull size.

Re: Seekers

What ment is do seekers avoid asteroids or do they hit an asteroid if the target is on the other side of it.

Re: Seekers

Seekers must close the distance to their target; so if it is possible for a seeker to move in such a way that it avoids an asteroid, then it can. If no alternate path is available, the seeker must move into the asteroid hex and be destroyed.

Why are they handled like this the stats seem more like one-shot torpedoes with a RNG 6

Re: Seekers

They are one shot weapons but treated as Flights for determining whether you have enough launch space available to send them out. It prevents a ship from sending out all its Drones, Suicide Shuttles and probes in the same turn.

Re: Seekers

Actually, MadSeason, while that's a perfectly reasonable attempt to cover my ass (whether you meant it to be or not smile) the fact is I misspoke. Originally, I wrote probes as "seekers", but was told by ADB that when used as weapons in the SFU they are more like direct-fire weapons, so I changed it. And then I forgot about the change when answering this topic.

So, the answer to the OP is, you may fire all of your probes in the same turn.

Re: Seekers

Thanks I thought the way probes were written that they seemed more like direct fire weapons.

In the convention game you will get more victory points for the amount of probes used for a specific purpose. Thanks for the clarification.

Re: Seekers

Well, having failed to cover your ass, I hope you aren't expecting me to kiss it.   :?

Seriously, I should have rechecked the rules because now I recall being able to fire all Probes at once.

I'm pretty sure this came up as a topic when we did our KA test-drive. I do distinctly remember the probe-barrage-of-death happening at least once!
