Topic: Hello everyone! Brand-new Starmada player

Hello everyone from Jacksonville, Fla.,
I recently purchased the Staramada Compendium and have read the rules and
find them easy-to-understand. I have mady many ships using the SSCA 2.0;
splendid program. I was looking for other Starmada players in NE Florida or in SE
Fla or even in SE Georgia. The game looks very playable and well written,
and I look forward to playing. Any advice for set up a game or demo @ any of
the 4 gaming stores here in Jacksonville? I think this game would catch on
easily here.

Hello, Steven!

I'm glad you are enjoying the Compendium, and I'm sure there are plenty of folks here who can provide advice on how to set up demos.

However, which SSCA are you using? Where did you download it from? IFAIK, the only online version(s) are for Starmada X, and not the Compendium...

It depends on what you mean by "obsolete". There is a new version of Starmada (called "Starmada X") which was released in late 2003/early 2004. However, many players have stuck with the Compendium either by preference or reluctance to buy a newer version.

We tried to make the transition as painless as possible -- you can get a document covering the major changes between the two here:

http://www.mj12games.com/starmada/update.pdf

(It's a password-protected PDF; the password is the first word in the first paragraph under section E.7.2 of the Compendium.)

I'd forgotten that the Compendium version of the SSCA was still online... good job finding it. smile

Again, thanks for your interest, and welcome to the group!
