Topic: Space Battleship Yamato (Starblazers)!

In Honor of the release of the Live Action movie on Dec 10 2010 in Japan, I have dusted off my vast collection of "Star Blazers" Miniatures by Musashi Enterprises!

Currently I have:

EDF Forces
1x Musashi Battleship
2x Standard Battleship
4x Andromeda I
1x Andromeda II
2x Battle Carrier
3x Patrol Cruiser
4x Battlecruiser
6x Destroyer
12x Frigates

Gamilon
1x Desslok Command Ship I
2x S-Type Battleship
3x Battle Carrier
3x Tri-Deck Carrier
12x Destroyer

White Comet Empire
1x Missile Cruiser
1x Twin Deck Carrier
2x Comet Battleship
6x Comet Destroyer

What I need to work out i how to simulate Wave motion Guns with Starmada:AE.

What I really need is  "Linear" fire arcs (1 and 3 hex row variants) and the Slow Firing -2 and Slow Firing-3 weapon attributes!

Re: Space Battleship Yamato (Starblazers)!

Hey Dan! Have you ever thought of contacting Musashi Enterprises to see if they want to do a Starmada version of Starblazers in the same way ADB did a Starmada version of their game?

Musashi might be able to move more minis.

They are pretty fabulous, especially with all the photo-etched brass parts.

Re: Space Battleship Yamato (Starblazers)!

Does Musashi still have the license?

I don't know! They are still selling product. It might be left over stock.

Re: Space Battleship Yamato (Starblazers)!

It would be cool indeed to see the return of the Anime spinal mount! It would allow us geeks the pleasure of firing wave motion guns and reflex cannons, tearing huge swaths of destruction through the ranks of the invaders again, officially  wink
Of course, there really should be a new piece of special equipment which allows the Yamato/Argo to be pounded mercilessly for half an hour, to emerge from a massive fireball trailing some wafting smoke and firing point blank into the enemy flagship destroying it and the squeeky voiced enemy commander (bad dub).
How would you point that?
lol

Priceless  8-)

LOL

I assume "At the enemy" of course.

ALSO, at amazon.com in their Digital Downloads section they have the entire Season 1 of Starblazers for $6.99 USD!!!

Streaming it while working. Gotta admit, Commander Desslok is a class act.

Re: Space Battleship Yamato (Starblazers)!

You'd also have to include the 'regenerate ridiculous amounts of damage' trait - given that the Yamato could lose enormous portions of the hull and come back the next episode, completely intact....

Only in the US sadly

Re: Space Battleship Yamato (Starblazers)!

That's a bummer!

Just watched the Yamato blow the planet Gamilon straight to H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks!

I don't know about Starblazers, but it looks cool.
To convert the ships stats into Starmada, you should avoid trying to mimic exactly how the ships and their weapons work. For example, the linear fire arcs could use the G fire arc, whilst all slow-firing -2 and -3 should be simply slow-firing, maybe with lesser effect.

Re: Space Battleship Yamato (Starblazers)!

Well, that's the easy way, of course.

But it dramatically loses the flavor of the show, and should not be TOO hard to work up stats for.

(Dan. I'm looking at you here.)

I even thought about a system where you had to accumulate power to fire it. For every point of movement power you do not spend in a round, you get a point of energy added to the Accumulator.

After 10 points you can fire a shot.

Just rolling it around in my wee noggin.

It would just be easier to have a Linear-3 Weapon Range: 12 with a Slow-3 attribute.

Plus it would be an excuse to spend more money with MJ12!
