Topic: "Terminator" game setting.

Hi guys, I'm right now working me through the Army Creator and the rules. And my first project with them would be some future Terminator action, i.e. the dark visions from the movies with lot of exo-skeletons running around.

But I'm still trying to get a grib of all the new words Defiance uses and could use a couple of hints.....

1) Would you make the "Terminators" matrix units? I can't really settle my mind here. They are connected somehow, but then again they have their own missions etc.
2) Would you rate the "Terminators" as PI?

And please don't post some final stats here, it would ruin the fun for me!

Based upon the robots shown as the antagonists in the movies, the "Terminators" themselves should probably be heroes, either veteran or elite.

The final movie, however, gave hints of other bots with different capabilities and I think that there is plenty of room in the background for the design of linked and matrix units.

As for PI vs. SI, I would go with PI just to keep things simple, though one could argue that SI fits the human-like mobility of the Terminators...

Re: "Terminator" game setting.

Can't say I'm all that versed in Terminator lore, but they do seem a bit too tough to kill to be SI. As for the quality, I would probably make them Matrix as they are so very unfazed by getting hit and damaged. Also the regular foot soldiers (the bare endoskeletons) didn't seem overtly individualistic (nor yet agile) at the start of Terminator 2. Matrix's not the best way to represent the main protagonists/antagonists, but their susceptibility to morale could be glossed over by saying they have "mission specific software upgrades that instill a higher survival instinct" and they could then be Elites or Linked.

Sounds like a super-cool idea to me!

Don't forget the human SI, and the light vehicle stats for the pickup trucks with the plasma guns mounted in the back....

Re: "Terminator" game setting.

I can't see why a sufficiently expensive (in terms of time and resources) machine wouldn't be given a self-preservation reflex, if only to prevent those embarrassing moments of indecision where conventional Matrix-intelligence frames just *stand there* and get shot to hell.

Yes, another shameless plug...

But, I too, have always been interested in the dark future of the Terminator setting.

I have recently done up some unit stats for Human Resistance Army, and Skynet's Forces for use with the Assault Corps playtest pack.

Hopefully you'll want to take a look.  The elements are un-tested as yet...hopefully thats about to change.

Let me know if there is interest, and I'll post.
