Topic: So, just took the plunge...

and got Romulan Armada and Starmada: Fleet Operations. However, Klingon Armada was out of stock. Are the rules in KA to be found also in RA, or do I need to try and get KA as well? I think they are, but just want to make sure...:)

Re: So, just took the plunge...

Klingon Armada and Romulan Armada are both perfectly good starting books.

I think there's maybe one extra rule in KA because it was needed in some of the ship designs....

I'm jealous of you having Fleet Ops already...!  That's okay....  my Admiralty core rulebook will tide me over until I can get it...!

Re: So, just took the plunge...

Okay, my post seemed to get eaten, but what the hell...

So the only rule that I won't find in RA thats in KA is for the vessels in KA, and not a general rule? Seems okay, I just want the tractor beams/space stations/fighter-exclusive weapons anyway...:)

And I haven't gotten S:FO yet, its going to be a week/fortnight before I can open 'em up and have a quiet read. Then, for those of you who've DL'd my supplements, expect some more in about a month, thats all I'm saying...:)

Re: So, just took the plunge...

Sorry, I guess I've been trolling the boards for so long I forget what isn't common knowledge.  Klingon Armada and Romulan Armada both have the same core set of rules, but RA gives rules for Cloaks and Plasma torps.  Both KA and RA have the rules for drones, shuttles, probes and tractor beams.
Starmada: Admiralty Edition has some great extra rules you can add to your game like mines, evasive action, emergency thrust, damage control...good stuff.  There is also a basic movement system which can be good for new players, non-gamers and doofs like me.

KA has rule B4 Countermeasures from the "Starmada AE core rules" book (For Orion ships).

Re: So, just took the plunge...

Ah, so thats okay then, seeing as I've already got the core rule book...:)

Re: So, just took the plunge...

Just got SFO. Haven't got RA yet, but I'm guessing it's because ADB is the ones shipping that book...?

Re: So, just took the plunge...

Starmada printed books (including RA) are available in the UK from:

(Example being RA.)
www.gameslore.com (£10.99 + P&P)
www.iguk.co.uk (£12.99 inc P&P) - Don't seem to carry a lot of stock.

I use both. iguk can have bargains but it is a matter of buying when you see an item is in stock.
OK we have to wait until the books arrive in the UK (when first released) but it saves a lot on postage.

Re: So, just took the plunge...

Damn, wish I knew that before ordering. Ordered RA at the same time as SFO (from MJ12 Games themselves).

FWIW, all non-SFU books are shipped directly from the printers on overseas orders.

The SFU books have to ship from the States.
