Topic: Tenders

I'm planning on making another assault on that great unfinished project of mine--the Panterre setting--and was wondering about the Tender piece of special equipment. I vaguely remember there being some conversation about it about a year or so ago, but don't think I remember the conclusion: was there any consensus on tenders? Would they act as the tenders in VBAM:SX did? And how would attack boats be dealt with with regards to tenders?

I would suggest that, in the event nothing was really sorted out, instead of it being a set SU cost per tender bay, instead operate it in a similar fashion to carrier, but with some differences:

1) The bay has a capacity, which corresponds to the number of SUs such a bay can carry. The SU cost woul be 150% the capacity, so for a Tender (100) bay, it would take up 150 SUs. This bay could carry one hull one vessel or a flotilla of two attack boats.

ORat/DRat cost would be (SU cost/6), so for the above bay, it would mean 25 would be added to the ORat and DRat.

2) The launch rate would be based on the carrier launch rate, but one level 'down', so ships up to size 8 would have a launch rate of one, 9-15 a launch rate of 2 etc. The launch rate corresponds to the number of hull size 1 vessels OR flotillas a vessel could launch. Maybe add a 'launch tube' option as well to double the rate of launch--maybe call it 'docking cradles', where the attack boats are on the outside and 'simply' have to cast off. Simply raise the ORat by the same amount as launch tubes.

Re: Tenders

Spent a while going through Attack Boats and Tenders (ok it was the Boltian Szunheg class Attack Boat Tender) with Jay for a possible VBAM B&K universe updated for Starmada AE. Attack Boats became hull 1 ships in their own right and the Tender constructed as a separate ship, (an armed shell) only paying for internal attachment points.

I put Attack Boats in the VBAM/Starmada AE conversion doc and page 24 of the shipyard guide.
(Conversion doc updated with latest fighter chart BTW)
Do they help?
