Topic: Fighter conversion

There is something I don't understand. Rules say that a fighter counter represents between 4 to 6 real fighters. Then, when looking at the conversion of Carrier included at the end of the rulebook, carriers end up with twice as many fighter counters than they have usine SAE.
I know that carrier is now 25 instead of 50 SU, but when they 'cost' 50 SU, they represented 6 fighters.
Now, for the same SU cost, you have twice that number.
Why not (although it still makes carriers very expensive), but what happens when you want to do your own conversions?

Re: Fighter conversion

That's errata. The 4-6 fighters per flight was never changed after I cut the flights' SU cost in half.

Re: Fighter conversion

So, how do you convert 24 fighters (in flights of 6) in  SNE?
Do they become 4 flights, costing 100 SU?
According to what has been done, it seems they become 8 flights costing 200 SU.

BTW, how does SNE fighters flights behave compared to SAE flights (for the same price)?
Are they better, worse...?

I would go with the latter (8 flights = 200 SUs).

Each Nova flight is roughly one-half an Admiralty flight. They should be comparable in power -- they have lost the ability to inflict damage before ships can respond, but they've gained a bit of firepower in exchange.

Too bad, I expeted cheap carriers  smile
On the other hand, we are free to do as we like.  big_smile

Thanks for the info.

True enough. The number of fighters represented by each flight is much less important than the SU and ORAT cost.

Depending on how I view things, I use it to represent either a squadron or just a particularly badass single fighter- once multiple fighter types are supported in Drydock, I plan to give my Ra-Cailum conversion 4 fighter groups- Two Jegan squadrons, one to represent the Re-GZ, and one to represent the Nu-Gundam.

Well, I always have some problems to deploy big carriers. Look at current designs from Starmada. They have a horrible number of flights aboard. Results: 1 CV = 5 CA. And when the scenario doesn't allow you to buy ships more expensive than half the budget (which is usually low), you never field them.
I suppose that in my future design, I will decide that 6 real fighters = 1 flight.
