Topic: Starmada Nova - Understanding Ship cards

Hi all

I am just reading the startmada Nova rules (never played any others before) and Im a little confused about the ship display cards. Mostly its the hull and armour boxes im confused with. As Ive read it, the two rows are top row armour and bottom row hull. Each has three groups. Then it talks about hull group and once the 1st row is gone, its damaged, 2nd row is crippled and 3rd destroyed. It then  has an example with 3 groups each with 5 squardes called hull and then one group of one square... Which is the confusing bit

Wheres the armour? Whys the 2nd row only got 1 group of 1 ?

I supposed what Im asking is can someone explain this in simpeltons' terms for me to get?

my guess is that the example has no armour and 6 boxes in first group, 5 in next and 5 in next....

To expand a little on what our intrepid admiral explained earlier, the example in the book isn't the best at explaining how armor and hull works. A better example than the Majestic would have been... better.  smile

There will always be three sections of hull, while there may be one or more sections of armor.
With the Majestic, there is no armor, and the first two sections of hull have six hull boxes, while the third section has five hull boxes. With respect to the rows, I think the ship cards are set up to have five boxes per row (of both armor and hull) in each section, so that's why the first two sections have two rows of hull boxes.

looking at other ship cards sort of make it obvious, however just wanted to make sure...

Now its onto making my own ship cards.....the spreadsheets Ive quickly seen so far are gonna take a whole lot of working out smile
