Topic: Nova and fighters

Hi
been away from Starmada for a while but have just picked up Nova and rather like what I have read so far (not played a game yet). I like the simplification of dice rolls and (dare I say it) the picking of some of the good bits of Full Thrust.

One question I do have from initial reading is about fighters. Fighters come in flights representing 2-4 fighters. There is then a fighter 'stat line' in the text. Is that per fighter or per fighter flight? I am assuming the latter.

Secondly, when fighter flights attack each other is the normal combat procedure followed i.e no special dog fighting rules?

thanks

You are right. A carrier (4) means 4 flights, ie 4 counters/units. That a flight represents 2 or 4 'real' fightershas no effect on the game.

AFAIK, no dogfight.

Re: Nova and fighters

I know that the weapon traits Sct, Dfs, Dx2, Dx3, & Cts are ignored/irrelevent when firing at fighters, shuttles, drones, & seekers.  How about Tls, & Fcs, not on the target ship, but on ships other than the target of the attacks by fighters, etc.?  I have made a three-hull ship that is an escort to protect other ships from seeker weapons, etc.  This ships "Gattling Guns" are range three, and have {Acr,Fcs,Tls,Rpt}.  If a ship becomes the target of seekers, this small escort then moves to three hexes away and uses these "Gattling Guns" to help defend the target by firing at the attacking seekers, before the targetted ship fires of course.  My question is, does the Tls give these weapons on the small escort three times the shots because it is at long range?  And does Fcs shift the range modifier from SR to LR?
Cheers.
