Topic: POD arrived

IS rulebook looks solid  smile

Now's I got my pdf version in a binder, and an actual hardcopy to show folks.

No one here's got reason to care, but it'll look sharp sitting on the game table at the session on Saturday.

I'm glad to hear it. Too bad my copy of Defiance is still MIA... sad

Re: POD arrived

Yeah, but every one that turns out well has gotta be an endorsement for POD.  I understand that's a thick book.

Re: POD arrived

I just recieved my Iron Stars POD print, and the interior quality is excellent, and the physical quality of the cover printing is very good as well... but I have one question.

On the right edge of the front and back cover there is about a 3/8" white band, and on the bottom edge of the book there is about a 1/16" white band.  Im curious if the cover image is the wrong size? or did they print it wrong?

Im looking at this from multiple perspectives as im looking at doing some things POD, and wonder if this is typical.  Really like the game so far in any case. ;-)

Anyone else's book have the white space?

My suspicion is that this is due to the fact that the files are formatted to 8.25" by 10.75", while the printers only produce 8.5" x 11" books.

Even with the bleed we provide, it appears there is an issue with lining it up properly -- my copy of Defiance has the same problem.

I'm hoping to upload some files of a corrected size so that this won't happen in the future. But this means we can't use the same files for our traditional printer as we do for Lulu... sad

Re: POD arrived

Ah that makes sense... if the cover JPG isnt big enough, they would have nothing to print at the edges.  Reading over the book you might want to have a different version for POD anyway... the book says there are two sheets of color counters and a clear arc template... which obviously cant be there in anything you do POD. ;-)

One thing you could do is have separate products, use the color front/back cover as a counter sheet and include the stats for the ships on the interior.

Again, not complaining... I think POD is great and want to get a POD print of Starmada ASAP. ;-)   Its just a slightly different beast than traditional printing.  In some ways better as it lets you do little products you couldnt do otherwise.
