Topic: Defiance Art
Hey everyone,
I thought you all might like to see the pic I am working on... It is meant to accompany the short story "The Fall Of Kalanid" by Justin from D:VG.
I still have to add in a lot of rendering before its done.

Looking great!
You really captured the moment.

Nice.
Did this come from setting/story or from a specific game session?
If a session, is there an AAR?
Nice.

Its from a short story [which is excellent, BTW] that appears in the Defiance Vital Ground rulebook [it starts on page 149]. I reserved a place to put in this pic once I had finished it [see page 155 - there is a box with a simple graphic in it saying "image not available". Soon, there will be! ]

Impressive work, as always.
How's the A Modest Proposal comic coming along, BTW?
for some reason the guy standing seems to be saying;
"I hate bugs."
very nice art.
I LOVE the perspective on this piece! Can't wait to see the final product...

Thanks for the compliments. As for the comic, I presently have 3 pages of rough sketches with dialogue done, and have started some rough work on a fourth page. So, not much there yet, but I did do the 3rd & 4th pages fairly recently, so i haven't stopped working on it!
Josh
Good to hear it's still on the to-do list.
Nice. I love the lines on the power armour. Although, the corpse isn't really in grotesque enough disarray for my tastes, and I am compelled to ask if maybe there could be a couple more phase-spiders, for more of a seething swarming look?
Yeah, I know I'm "not right". It is beautiful work Josh.

Actually, you are quite right, Sam! I was concerned that I didn't include enough Phase Spiders in the image to depict that "seething swarming" aspect of the story. I didn't want to mess up the composition too much by drawing a virtual "sea" of critters, so I tried to compensate by adding a few splattered spider bodies...
I wish I could show off the final, but there is a tiny little patch of real estate in the pic that needs some attention yet. I have been working like a fiend this week at my job [23hrs in the past 2 days alone], but I hope to get back at the art this weekend!
Josh
Sometimes you just gotta mess up the composition with chaos and death. I have this belief that everything looks better after you frig with it, break it, and stick it back together.
You know best! My composition sucks
Ok, I am done at last... here it is! This is a colour version - the actual printed pic won't have that brownish tinge to it. Thats just from the type of markers I use. Sorry its much smaller, but the file size would be too large otherwise.
Josh
Nice! The explosion now makes me think of Japanese inks....
I kinda like the color as is.
Gives it a melancholy, desperate stand feel.
Quality picture.
Wish I had that kind of talent.

Me too, but in the book, it can only be greyscale, so the tinge of brown won't be in it

Wish I had that kind of talent.
Thanks, I appreciate the compliment!
