I just wanted to say thanks. Starmada is superbly designed. I have experience with a variety of gaming systems (warmachine/hordes, warhammer, battletech, babylon5wars, the other b5 miniature game whose name escapes me and numerous computer gaming systems).

For an open ended system, it's beautifully balanced. It's still going to suffer from lopsided ship design, but as anyone who plays a lot of the above-mentioned games can tell you, you can always design a lopside design, and the thing that usually balances them out is (1) adhering to some form of composition OR (2) a wide diversity in the types of fleets you face, because lopsided fleets always have a critical weakness.

I would personally make small flavor adjustments, but they are minor (renaming armor to reinforced hull for flavor, since they are basically hull points). But the combat rating system is amazing for an automated system.

I'm probably going to convert b5war ships to this system and post them shortly. It's too bad that no one I know in this area (Raleigh, NC) plays this. Still, thank you for Starmada: Nova
